A new report suggests that the next version of Apple TV will include an updated Siri remote.
It’s been a little while since the latest generation of Apple TV devices was released — four years come November. A new generation of the device has been in the works for some time, with one report from January indicating that it might be ready to launch this fall. There’s been no confirmation from Apple on that schedule, but a new report suggests that the forthcoming hardware will include an upgraded version of the Siri remote.
Key Details:
- New and improved: An improved Siri remote is reportedly coming with the next Apple TV model.
- Scant details: No specifics are available yet about the upgraded remote.
- What’s coming?: Other possible upgrades include the use of the A17 Pro chip and Wi-Fi 7 support.

MacRumors was first to report that a new macOS software update includes references to several unreleased products, including “ATVRemote 1,5,” which could be a reference to an upgraded Apple TV remote. There has long been conjecture that the next Apple TV 4K could feature an upgraded remote, and the report lends further credence to that belief.
Unfortunately, no specific details are available about which aspects of the remote may be upgraded. The current generation of Apple TV remote has a large selection of intuitive features, including the Siri voice assistant, a directional clickpad that can transform into a jog wheel, and dedicated volume and power buttons.
Consumers have been eager for more official updates on the forthcoming Apple TV 4K, but Apple has been sparing with them, leaving analysts to speculate regarding its specifications. Most expect the device to upgrade to the A17 Pro chip that first debuted with iPhone 15 Pro models, and that it will support Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7.
While we don’t have many public details about the next Apple TV, Apple might decide to release more information at any time in the near future. Keep checking back with The Streamable for the latest updates about the device’s design, price, and where you can shop for it once it’s released.
