As reported by Bloomberg on Wednesday, Apple is planning to roll out the newest model of the Apple TV 4K device on Oct. 13. The new Apple TV device will closely resemble the old one, but will have a faster processor installed.

The new Apple TV 4K will also showcase the new Siri AI assistant, which the company spent years developing, suffering numerous delays. Amazon and other streaming device manufacturers have already launched AI-powered home assistants, and Apple is ready to join them.

Past rumors regarding the new Apple TV indicate it will have an upgraded remote, and most expect that it will carry the A17 Pro chip and support Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. Apple likes to keep things close to the vest until it can perform a big unveiling, however, so concrete details are still sparse.

The Oct. 13 event will also be a launchpad for Apple’s first smart-home hub. A new update for the HomePod mini is also expected, and the moves mark a huge step by Apple into the smart home marketplace. Viewers will be able to connect and control various Apple devices through this smart home hub, including their Apple TV.

Shoppers who want to get their hands on the upcoming Apple TV 4K will probably be able to do so by the holiday shopping season. A new Apple TV device has been a long time coming, and now consumers finally have a concrete answer on when it will arrive.
