Peacock reveals new features for 2026 Winter Olympics
The return of “Gold Zone” and other features will be accompanied by the rollout of new ones like Courtside Live.
Peacock will once again serve as the ultimate streaming platform for watching coverage of the Olympics in 2026 — at least in the United States. The 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics begin on Feb. 6, and customers will be able to watch the action on Peacock with a huge number of added features. Favorites from previous Olympics streams on Peacock will return in 2026, and on Wednesday, the streamer offered more details about the new features coming to its Olympics coverage this year.
Key Details:
- Go rinkside: Peacock is rolling out a new feature called Rinkside Live for its Olympics coverage.
- Coming back: “Gold Zone,” multiview, and other favorites of Peacock’s Olympics coverage will also return.
- Mountain of coverage: Peacock is the comprehensive streaming home of the games, which run Feb. 6 through 22.
The most dynamic new feature coming to Peacock for its coverage of the Milan Cortina Olympics is called Rinkside Live. This allows streaming audiences on mobile devices to watch ice hockey and figure skating competitions with new, unique camera angles that give fans behind-the-scenes footage of athletes they won’t see anywhere else. Viewers watching Peacock on their smart TV or on the streamer’s website will enjoy these same angles within the streamer’s multiview experience.
With Rinkside Live, fans will get to see through the eyes of the Coaching Cam during select figure skating events, giving a view of the skater’s coaching area. A Training Room camera will also be set up, and ice hockey fans will be able to get up close and personal with the team using the Bench Cam during games.
Peacock is also launching a similar feature called Courtside Live, which will help basketball fans have an up-close viewing experience during NBA games on the streamer. The first Courtside Live stream will be available during the 2026 NBA U.S. vs. World All-Star Game on Feb. 15.
“Given NBCU’s breadth of marquee sports this February, we’re offering Peacock users new, fun ways to engage and watch on their terms, with unprecedented access to moments they’ve never seen before and stand-out audio and picture quality,” NBCUniversal executive Jim Denney said “From behind-the scenes access as athletes prepare for competition to unique perspectives, Rinkside Live and Courtside Live put fans in control and take them deeper into the sports they love to celebrate, and the culture and stories that surround them.”
Plenty of other beloved features from past Olympics broadcasts on Peacock are returning to the streamer as well. As mentioned, multiview will return for the 2026 Winter Olympics, as will the “Gold Zone” whip-around show, an interactive events schedule, and even games and trivia.
In addition, Peacock will offer vertical video highlight feeds from the games, and an expanded search will connect viewers with the events they want to watch quickly. Medal standings will be available at a glance as well, making Peacock an absolute must-have for any Olympics fans during this year’s games in Milan Cortina.
