DIRECTV STREAM Adds 4 CW Affiliates in Alabama, Colorado, Hawaii and Virginia

DIRECTV is continuing to bring on new affiliates of The CW after reaching a new carriage deal in September with the channel’s majority owner.

One of the reasons that The Streamable recommends DIRECTV STREAM so highly to potential cord-cutters is due to the fact that it carries local channels in nearly all markets. Alongside ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, DIRECTV STREAM carries The CW in a large number of the top media markets, and this week it is adding four more stations in as many states to its channel guides.

  • DIRECTV is adding CW stations in Colorado Springs, Honolulu, Huntsville, and Roanoke.
  • The satellite and live TV streaming provider has added several other CW stations in recent months.
  • DIRECTV recently settled a retransmission dispute with TEGNA, which could lead to a price increase in the future.

Which CW Affiliates Are Coming to DIRECTV STREAM?

DIRECTV and DIRECTV STREAM customers are gaining access to The CW in Alabama, Colorado, Hawaii, and Virginia. Customers in these areas will soon be able to watch titles like “Superman and Lois,” college basketball games from ACC teams, and much more.

Check out which markets are gaining access to The CW on DIRECTV services here:

Market Callsign
Colorado Springs, CO KXTU-CW (Ch. 57)
Honolulu, HI KHON-CW (Ch. 2)
Huntsville, AL WHDF-CW (Ch. 15)
Roanoke, VA WWCW-CW (Ch. 5)

The CW has been added in more and more DIRECTV markets in the past few months. The pay-TV provider had a high-profile retransmission dispute with Nexstar, the majority owner of The CW in summer 2023. That dispute was settled in September, and ever since DIRECTV has been slowly but steadily bringing on more CW affiliates in different areas of the United States.

What Else is New on DIRECTV STREAM?

DIRECTV STREAM hasn’t added a big swath of new cable channels lately, but it has buried the hatchet with another big owner of local TV stations. Earlier this week, DIRECTV forged a new retransmission deal with TEGNA, restoring 64 TEGNA-owned channels for DIRECTV customers.

That deal was obviously good news for viewers who were missing their local channels. But it does open the door for DIRECTV to raise prices on its services again, including DIRECTV STREAM. Subscribers will want to keep a close eye on the service in the next few months, as well as on The Streamable, which will keep you up-to-date if and when a price increase is handed down.

If you’re a DIRECTV STREAM customer and The CW hasn’t made its way to your market yet, stay patient. The channel was added for audiences in Salt Lake City and St. Louis in November, and a separate update in that month brought The CW to DIRECTV STREAM subscribers in California, Florida and other areas. The channel’s reach on DIRECTV is expanding all the time, and it could be headed to your TV next!
