YouTube TV Becomes Official Partner of Peloton, Allowing Subscribers to Watch Live TV on Exercise Devices

YouTube TV subscribers with select Peloton devices will soon be able to watch their favorite cable channels while working out.

As the New Year approaches, many among us are focused on resolutions to help us feel better in 2024, either mentally or physically. Fitness-focused users of YouTube TV will be especially thrilled to know that starting soon, they’ll be able to watch their favorite TV channels on select Peloton devices.

  • Peloton announced its new official partnership with YouTube TV on Tuesday.
  • Customers with a Peloton Bike(+), Tread(+), or Row will soon be able to watch their YouTube TV subscription while working out.
  • Peloton also added streaming content from NBA League Pass in 2023.

Will You Need a YouTube TV Subscription to Watch Live Channels on Peloton?

Yes, the new partnership between Peloton and YouTube TV will not allow you to watch YouTube TV channels on Peloton equipment unless you’re already subscribed to the live TV streaming service. If you are, however, you’ll soon be able to watch your favorite cable channels like ESPN, FX or TNT, or your local broadcast networks using your YouTube TV subscription.

YouTube TV compatibility will be available to Peloton All Access Members with Peloton Bike(+), Tread(+), or Row devices. It’s a great way for Peloton owners to get the most out of their devices and their workout time, especially as the start of a new year tends to spur renewed efforts to get fit.

“Our partnership with YouTube TV is a continuation of our commitment to fitness anytime, anywhere,” said Gwen Bethel Riley, Senior Vice President of Music and Content Partnerships at Peloton. “We are empowering our Members to lean into what they love, like catching up on their favorite show or rooting for their home team, to help inspire them on their fitness journey.”

What Other Streaming Partners Does Peloton Have?

At the moment, Peloton’s other official streaming partner is NBA League Pass. Users with a League Pass subscription can hop on their Peloton and watch out-of-market NBA contests from across the league, thanks to an agreement stuck between the league and the workout equipment manufacturer in October. NBA League Pass subscribers who signed up for the service through DIRECTV STREAM or Sling TV were also allowed access on Peloton machines.

This year has been a big one for Peloton when it comes to providing users with more streaming access. A report from PeloBuddy.com indicates that the company allowed select users to test much wider access to streaming platforms over the summer, with official Peloton apps for streamers like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and Max becoming available for short testing windows. Those tests have since disappeared from the Peloton Entertainment hub, but they could return soon once the company irons out the technical kinks. Peloton has also partnered with Verizon to offer its subscription in the +play store, where they can purchase several top streaming services as well.

Peloton device owners could soon have an entire world of streaming at their fingertips. As of now, they’re restricted to streaming content from just two apps on their Peloton screens, but the company’s new partnership with YouTube TV will allow subscribers of that service to watch hundreds of cable channels using their machine.
