Peacock begins testing loyalty rewards program

Peacock begins testing loyalty rewards program

Select Peacock subscribers will be able to access discounts, exclusive experiences, and more with the program.

In the second quarter, Peacock finally reached its long-sought-after goal of profitability. The streamer knows that such results can be fleeting, however, and is taking steps to ensure it continues building a loyal customer base. To that end, the NBCUniversal streaming service is now testing a new rewards program it calls Peacock Membership, which select subscribers will be able to enjoy at no extra cost.

Key Details:

  • Trying it out: Peacock has launched a beta test of a rewards program called Peacock Membership.
  • Select subscribers: The program is available to Peacock Premium and Premium Plus customers.
  • Closed test: Only invited customers are being asked to participate in the beta as of now.

The Peacock Membership program will include access to “epic experiences, everyday perks, and special discounts” just for being a subscriber — no additional fees or extra enrollment requirements. The longer a customer stays with Peacock, the better these perks will be.

As described by the Peacock website, only Peacock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers will be eligible for the program. Customers who get Peacock as a perk through Xfinity’s Rewards program are also eligible, but may need to cancel their existing account to become eligible for Peacock Membership.

If you’re hoping to join Peacock Membership, but haven’t been invited by the streamer to participate, you’re unfortunately out of luck for the moment. But if the beta goes well, Peacock will roll out the Membership rewards program to more Premium and Premium Plus customers in the coming months.

Peacock customers who do not wish to participate in Peacock Membership can opt out at any time. NBCUniversal has created a separate site for Peacock Membership where viewers can manage their accounts, redeem rewards, and see new offers all in one place.

Disney+ also has a perks program, which refreshes its inventory with new rewards regularly. If Peacock’s Membership program is similar to that of Disney+, it will offer discounts on NBCU merchandise and tickets to Universal theme parks, and perhaps even vacation sweepstakes. But until NBCU offers more details about specific perks, that’s mere speculation.

If you’re a Peacock Premium or Premium Plus subscriber, scour your email — there may be an invitation to sign up for Peacock Membership waiting for you. If not, you’ll have to wait just a bit longer to access the streamer’s rewards program.
