Peacock unveils new interactive features alongside NBA games
Fans can see a new Performance View with real-time player stats, curated highlight lists, and more with these new Peacock features.
Many NBA fans are still getting used to the new normal of having to watch a selection of games on Peacock this year. The streamer is simulcasting all games played on NBC during the season, but is also getting an inventory of exclusive games that aren’t available on linear TV. In order to heighten the game-day experience on Peacock, the streamer is set to launch a bevy of interactive features that audiences can use to track their favorite players’ stats, catch up on highlights, and more.
Key Details:
- Peak performance: The Performance View feature on Peacock will let viewers see an enhanced version of the live game in the court, with stats overlays and more.
- What’s the score?: Peacock’s ScoreCard lets viewers predict game stats ahead of time and track them as the game goes along.
- Did you see that?: Can’t Miss Highlights on the Peacock mobile app will offer a vertical feed of important plays and moments.
The first of the new features soon to be available on Peacock is the Performance View, which shows fans an enhanced version of the live game broadcast, complete with statistical overlays. These will show viewers who has the ball, how likely they are to score, and track their shots with an animated trail. Player cards will update with stats in real time, so that viewers always know how their favorite superstars are doing throughout the course of the game.
Another new feature on Peacock is the ScoreCard, which can be used by fans who have a little money on the game, or just those who want to test themselves against other viewers. ScoreCard lets viewers pick from a selection of pre-made score cards, then predict what they think will happen during a game. The card will update automatically in real time as the game goes along. Nailing the right number of rebounds or points for a player will earn a player points, and they can track their progress against other Peacock ScoreCard users. There’s no cost or wagering involved in the ScoreCard feature, but if you are a sports bettor, it’s also a convenient way to track stats and lines you may have money on.
Can’t Miss Highlights is a feature that’s only coming to Peacock’s mobile app. It creates a vertical feed of videos for viewers to swipe through to get caught up with the most crucial moments of each game: big shots, major steals, and clutch passes that lead to momentum shifts.
One returning feature for Peacock’s NBA broadcasts this year is Catch Up with Key Plays, which lets you watch a playlist of must-see moments from each game. Later this season, fans will also be able to watch Courtside Live on Peacock, using a picture-in-picture view of the main broadcast, while audiences can bounce around using a curated feed of other camera angles.
Customers can watch NBA games on Peacock starting with the ad-supported Premium tier, costing $12 per month. All of the streamer’s live sports are available on that plan, and it has an annual subscription option for $120 per year as well.
