Prime Video, AEW strike deal to stream pay-per-view events
Starting Sunday, March 9, fans in the United States and other territories will be able to purchase AEW PPVs through Prime Video.
All Elite Wrestling has a new streaming partner. The wrestling promotion has made great strides in making its content available via on-demand streaming services in recent months, and that pattern continued this week when AEW announced a deal with Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video to start distributing its pay-per-view events beginning this week with Sunday’s “Revolution.”
Key Details:
- AEW PPVs on Prime Video begin with “AEW: Revolution” on March 9.
- Fans will have to pay an extra fee to watch the events, in addition to purchasing a Prime Video subscription.
- AEW weekly shows began streaming on Max on Jan. 1.
As the name suggests, AEW PPVs will not be free to Prime Video subscribers. It is unclear at this point whether or not wrestling fans will need to be Prime Video subscribers to purchase the pay-per-views, or if anyone will be able to get the show via Prime Video. ESPN+ requires customers to sign up for a monthly subscription in order to purchase UFC PPVs, so it would not be surprising if the same was the case in this situation. There was no official confirmation on how much these PPVs will cost with Prime Video, but last year’s “AEW: Revolution” PPV was $50.
“AEW: Revolution” will kick off the AEW and Amazon relationship on Sunday, March 9. From there, every AEW PPV will be available via Prime Video, including “Dynasty,” “Double or Nothing,” “All In,” “Forbidden Door,” “All Out,” “WrestleDream,” “Full Gear,” and “Worlds End.”
“We are thrilled to work with Prime Video to bring all AEW pay-per-view events to their incredible service, marking a major milestone in the continued expansion of AEW’s global reach,” AEW CEO Tony Khan said. “AEW pay-per-view events are consistently the most exciting professional wrestling events in the world, and fans will now be able to experience that firsthand through Prime Video beginning with ‘AEW Revolution’ this Sunday, March 9.”
In the last year, AEW has made a commitment to making more of its events available via on-demand streamers. In June 2024, the wrestling league announced that it was making its archive of PPV events available to purchase on TrillerTV. In January, AEW announced a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to stream weekly shows live and on-demand on Max. It’s expected that fans will be able to purchase on-demand replays of AEW PPVs on Max at some point in 2025, at a discounted price.
Amazon is continuing to carry out its announced intentions of being “aggressive” in pursuing sports rights. Prime Video will already stream live NFL and NBA games in 2025, and now it can add professional wrestling to its list of major events.
