REELZ+ streaming service now available as Prime Video add-on
Millions of cord-cutters now have a new way to stream hit cable shows from the “On Patrol” franchise.
Cord-cutters, there is a new way for you to stream everything from the “On Patrol” franchise, as on Thursday, it was announced that the REELZ+ streaming service is now available as a subscription add-on from Prime Video. After launching earlier this year, the streaming service from the popular true crime and entertainment cable channel REELZ is set to become available to millions of new potential subscribers.
Key Details:
- Audience expansion: The newly launched REELZ+ streamer is now available to many of Prime Video’s 201 million subscribers.
- “On Patrol: Live”: In addition to the on-demand library, the streaming service includes a 24/7 stream of the network’s cable channel.
- Peacock’s got company: A live stream of the REELZ cable channel has also been available on Peacock for more than two years.
The entertainment streamer is now available for Prime Video subscribers and will cost $5 per month. However, as part of an introductory offer, users can sign up for the annual plan for just $50. What makes REELZ+ exciting, especially for fans of the network’s popular law enforcement ride-along shows, is that not only does it come with a full library of REELZ programming, but it also streams the cable network around the clock. This means that viewers can stream “On Patrol: Live” every Friday and Saturday night and watch the real-time action as it happens.
In addition to being able to watch “On Patrol” as it airs on the REELZ cable channel, subscribers will also be able to stream select segments from the series on-demand, including “Triple Play” and “BOLO,” highlighting the most unbelievable crimes, criminals, harrowing police pursuits ever caught on camera.
The opportunity for REELZ+ to be available as a subscription add-on via the Amazon-owned platform is likely to have a significant impact on its viewership. Due to Prime Video’s status as the largest streaming hub on the market, all types of services, large and small, have seen marked expansions of viewership once arriving on the platform.
“Expanding our streaming reach to Prime Video is a big step for REELZ,” the company’s CEO Stan E. Hubbard said.
REELZ+ is not the only place that viewers without a traditional cable, satellite, or live TV streaming subscription can watch a stream of the REELZ cable channel. The network has been available on Peacock since 2023 where fans can browse the archives of their favorite REELZ shows and also catch whatever is happening on the channel live.
However, even though Peacock includes REELZ content for free, its 41 million subscribers is still dwarfed by the 205 million on Prime Video who will be able to pay $5 monthly to watch their favorite shows.
“We’re excited to launch the REELZ+ subscription on Prime Video, bringing even more premium subscriptions and selection to the service, including the hit series On Patrol: Live from MGM,” head of Prime Video Marketplace Ryan Pirozzi said. “The success of the show and expansion of our subscription offerings exemplifies our ongoing commitment to deliver compelling content that resonates with our customers’ evolving entertainment needs and preferences, and an unparalleled streaming experience.”
In addition to the “On Patrol” series of crime shows, REELZ+ also offers an extensive library of original documentaries and docuseries including “Autopsy: The Last Hours of…,” “Gangsters: America’s Most Evil,” “Breaking the Band,” “Jail,” “Murder Made Me Famous,” and more.
