Roku announces 2 new streaming sticks starting at just $30
North America’s largest streaming provider is set to introduce a pair of impressive, new devices.
Roku makes some of our favorite streaming devices on the market right now, and the company has just announced that it will be adding two new streaming sticks to its lineup. On Wednesday, Roku unveiled a pair of new devices, the Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick Plus. Both of these new devices are over 35% smaller than most of their dongle competitors, but do not sacrifice any performance or speed. What makes the options even more attractive is that they start at just $30.
The Roku Streaming Stick is an HD player, while the Roku Streaming Stick Plus offers 4K compatibility. Both streaming sticks are run solely by the power supplied of your TV, meaning that you no longer need to look for another power source to plug the device into. The company says that over 90% of customers prefer to have a clean setup, with wires completely hidden, which is why it was so important to be able to power it from just the TV.
Both sticks have a refined design that allows them to easily be plugged into any HDMI port without blocking other devices, making them perfect travel companions.

“Our mission remains the same — to deliver better TV for everyone,” Roku president of devices, product, and technology Mustafa Ozgen said. “With this new device lineup and beyond, we are changing the future of television, with streaming that is seamless, innovative, and enjoyable.”
From a feature standpoint, the Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick Plus offer a very similar experience. The main differences between the two are the 4K support and the price. The Roku Streaming Stick comes in at $30, while the Streaming Stick Plus is just $40.
Both new devices are available for pre-order now, and will be officially available across all of Roku’s retail partners on May 6.
