Low-cost, ad-free streamer Howdy gets new mobile app

Customers of Roku’s $3-per-month streaming service can now watch it on the go.

Roku is mostly known for offering ad-supported streaming content on its free service The Roku Channel. But the company also offers an ad-free streaming service as well: Howdy, which offers titles from some of Hollywood’s biggest studios for $3 per month. Now, Howdy has announced the launch of a new mobile app, allowing subscribers to watch the streamer anywhere they can take their phone.

Key Details:

  • Get it now: The Howdy mobile app is now available for Android and iOS devices.
  • Growing distribution: The streamer recently joined Prime Video Subscriptions, as well.
  • Great price: Howdy presents ad-free streaming titles for $3 per month.

The new Howdy mobile app is available in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store now, allowing both Android and iPhone owners to download and start watching. Now, Howdy subscribers can watch the streamer from the comfort of their couch, or on the go.

“At a time when most things are getting more expensive, Howdy is designed to make premium, ad-free streaming more affordable and accessible for all viewers,” Roku executive Gil Fuchsberg said. “Launching the Howdy mobile app on iOS and Android enables us to continue growing the service beyond the Roku platform, bringing Howdy’s unique value and quality entertainment to even more viewers.”

Howdy includes over 10,000 hours of video entertainment, with titles from FilmRise, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros. Discovery, alongside select Roku Originals that viewers won’t be able to watch ad-free on any other service.

Roku has been hard at work giving audiences new ways to access Howdy. Last week, the company announced that it would begin distributing Howdy through the Prime Video Subscriptions store, allowing customers to be billed by Amazon along with Prime Video and their other subscriptions.

Howdy costs $3 per month and has just one, ad-free plan. It’s one of the cheapest ways to stream top entertainment without commercials, and now customers can watch it anywhere they can connect to the internet with their phones, thanks to the streamer’s new mobile app.

Howdy

Howdy is a free streaming channel available on Roku that brings together a mix of classic television, movies, and easygoing entertainment designed for casual, lean-back viewing. Built with simplicity in mind, the channel offers a curated lineup of nostalgic favorites, lighthearted series, and familiar titles that appeal to a broad audience.

…

Rather than focusing on live news or sports, Howdy leans into comfort viewing — think classic TV episodes, vintage films, and timeless genres that are easy to jump into at any time. It’s the kind of channel you can leave on in the background or settle into for a relaxed watch session without having to search for something specific.

Howdy is available exclusively on the Roku platform, accessible on Roku streaming players, Roku TVs, and the Roku mobile app for $2.99 per month.

With its straightforward design and emphasis on familiar, feel-good content, Howdy is a convenient option for Roku users looking for simple, no-frills entertainment.
