Live TV streaming service Sling TV has spent a significant amount of time and effort during the first half of the year launching and promoting its new free streaming platform, aptly called Sling Freestream. On Wednesday, the streaming provider announced that even more people would be able to check out the services free content as it would not be available on Android mobile devices.

Freestream delivers over 400 channels of 24/7 content as well as more than 41,000 on-demand shows and movies completely free with no signup or registration required. Sling is constantly adding new channels to the service, including this week, as it added the Maximum Effort Channel from Ryan Reynolds featuring the star’s new “Bedtime Stories with Ryan” series. Along with the show designed to help viewers sleep, the channel features episodes of “Absolutely Fabulous,” “ALF,” “The Carol Burnett Show,” the British version of “Extras,” “Fifteen,” “Kids in the Hall,” “Mad TV,” the original U.K. version of “The Office,” “Sports Night,” and Reynolds’ late 1990’s sitcom “Two Guys A Girl and A Pizza Place.”

The service offers a wide variety of free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels. While some have a swath of licensed content, others focus more on niche topics, like PickleTV, which covers the fastest growing sport in America, or Broadway On Demand, where you can watch professionally captured stage productions and behind-the-curtain documentaries.

Freestream is available as a standalone platform, but also integrates into the Sling TV channel lineup. But that’s not where the overlap between the services send. This summer, Freestream users will be able to receive discounts on a number of premium streaming services through Sling. They can sign up for AMC+, SHOWTIME, STARZ, and others at up to a 50% discount on their first month when they click here.

Sling Freestream

Sling Freestream is a free ad-supported TV service offered through Sling TV, offering one of the largest free live TV lineups available today. Viewers get access to more than 520 live channels and over 41,000 on-demand movies and TV episodes without needing a paid subscription. The service blends live news, sports, entertainment, reality TV, movies, and kids’ programming into a single app experience that works across most major streaming devices.

The lineup includes always-on news coverage from channels like ABC News Live, CBS News, Scripps News, Bloomberg TV, and more, making it easy to keep up with breaking stories and live events for free. Entertainment fans can jump into channels featuring content from MTV, Comedy Central, BET, VH1, and other familiar brands, with everything from sitcom marathons and reality shows to stand-up comedy and late-night highlights. Sling Freestream also features popular series and franchises, including “Hell’s Kitchen,” “The Walking Dead,” and classic crime and competition shows that rotate regularly throughout the platform.

For families, Freestream offers a growing selection of children’s programming, including channels from Sensical, Nick Jr., and other kid-friendly brands, featuring cartoons, educational content, and preschool favorites. Movie lovers can browse a constantly refreshed library of free films alongside themed live movie channels that stream action, comedy, thriller, and holiday content around the clock.

One of Freestream’s more unique features is its collection of “sneak peek” channels and free episode samplers from premium networks and streaming brands like AMC+, MGM+, STARZ, and TNT. These curated previews let viewers sample hit shows and original programming without signing up for another subscription, giving users a taste of premium TV at no cost.

Sports and international programming are also a major part of the experience. Freestream carries free sports-focused channels including beIN SPORTS XTRA and other niche sports feeds, while international viewers can watch programming in seven languages through channels like AajTak International, Zona TUDN, ARY News, France24, SonyKal, Noticias Univision 24/7, TVP World, Al Jazeera English, and Al Arabiya.

In addition to its free streaming catalog, Sling also offers a built-in movie rental store where users can rent newer theatrical releases and popular films without subscribing to a paid TV package. Rental pricing typically ranges from $3.99 to $24.99, depending on the title and release window, giving cord-cutters another flexible viewing option directly inside the Sling app.
