The 2025 Wimbledon finals are our sporting event of the week
Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, and more of the top tennis stars in the world will be in action this weekend at Wimbledon.
With fall just weeks away, The Streamable thought it would be a good time to drop a new series of articles devoted to our favorite sporting event each weekend. Every week, we’ll pick one game or event that we think is must-watch television, give you the full schedule, and let you know how to stream it.
We’re starting off with the 2025 Wimbledon finals, which start on Saturday and continue through Sunday. Keep reading to find out why they’re our sport of the week, and see all your options for streaming!
Why the 2025 Wimbledon finals are our sport of the week
The prestige of a Grand Slam
The Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is one of four Grand Slam tennis tournaments every year. It’s the only tennis major still played on grass courts, and has been held since 1877. Every year, the best men’s and women’s tennis players in the world converge on London to test their mettle against each other.
With over 53 million pounds in prize money available, the tournament can be as lucrative for the winners as it is prestigious. Tennis superstars Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Steffi Graf, Andy Murray, Venus and Serena Williams, and many more have graced its courts in their day.
This year’s participants include a list of names no less prestigious, with returning champions Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejčíková joined by names like Amanda Anisimova, Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and other giants of the sport.
It’s not often that any event gathers so many stars in one place, which in and of itself is enough to vault it into the place of top sporting event for the weekend of July 12 and 13. But the ease of watching the 2025 Wimbledon finals are also a compelling reason to make it our No. 1 pick.
