Apple has launched a new foldable iPhone, and Netflix has switched up its mobile app on these devices to take advantage of the iPhone Duo’s unique features. Per reporting from Media Play News, Netflix announced on Monday that it was updating the app with a more dynamic home screen and playback controls that adjust to the iPhone Duo’s configuration.
The interface also features a reflective glow that will respond based on the angle of the phone hinge. And forthcoming updates will let Netflix watchers switch between vertical and horizontal video formats more quickly. YouTube aims to launch AV2 streams in 2027
The Alliance for Open Media has revealed that YouTube is preparing to roll out an updated video codec. Engineering Director Des Keane unveiled in the post that YouTube AV2 streams for the web will be available as soon as early 2027.
That still relies on Google Chrome and other browsers to support the codec, so YouTube viewers may not notice the difference right away. But AV2 offers around 30% better compression than AV1, which means either sharper video at the same bitrate or the same quality video using less bandwidth.
