Hulu is one of the oldest brands in streaming, and that’s why, when I first heard the phrase “Hulu + Live TV” for the first time, I was confused. What did live TV mean, and why was Hulu in there, I wondered. In the intervening years, however, I’ve come to learn a lot more about Hulu + Live TV, which offers a mix of popular channels, plus on-demand streaming access for a bundled price.

You might be surprised to learn how many subscription options there actually are with Hulu + Live TV, however. We’ll walk you through the choices here and give you the lowdown on each of their features and benefits.

Everything you need to know about Hulu + Live TV’s subscription options

What subscription plans does Hulu + Live TV have?

Hulu + Live TV doesn’t advertise it loudly, but it does indeed offer a package of 90+ live cable and broadcast channels without the Disney Bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ (as of Aug. 21, 2025, ESPN select) attached. It costs $82 per month.

The obvious reason that Disney doesn’t trumpet this plan too loudly is that it bundles ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu, as well as ESPN+/select, with the same channel package for $83, just $1 more.

There are also plans that include ad-free versions of the Disney on-demand services. You can get Hulu + Live TV bundled with just ad-free Disney+ and ESPN+/select (which always has ads on live content) for $88 per month, or upgrade all the way to Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, and Hulu without ads, and ESPN+/select for $96 per month.

It’s important to point out that the base channel package of Hulu + Live TV — which also includes local broadcast channels — is the same for all packages, regardless of bundle attached.

Does Hulu + Live TV have annual plans?

No, Hulu + Live TV only offers the same month-to-month contract style that Disney+ and Hulu come with. However, the obvious upside is that viewers can cancel whenever they no longer feel the need to keep Hulu + Live TV for any reason.

Does Hulu + Live TV come with a free trial?

Yes, Hulu + Live TV gives new customers a three-day free trial to enjoy the streamer.

Can you add an extra member to a Hulu + Live TV subscription?

While on-demand Hulu does have a way to add extra members outside the household to your account, you cannot do this with Hulu + Live TV.

What channels come with Hulu + Live TV

Some streaming services have a focus on smaller channel bundles for especially budget-conscious customers, and others are now introducing genre-based plans that focus on one category of channels to the exclusion of others.

Hulu + Live TV doesn’t do that; rather, it replicates cable in the sense that it offers entertainment networks, news, and sports channels all in the same package — though of course that includes a higher price tag as the trade-off. Does Hulu + Live TV offer add-on packs?

Yes, Hulu + Live TV has a few add-on packs, with services like Paramount+ Premium, Cinemax, HBO Max, and STARZ available as well as the Unlimited Screens ($10 per month), Entertainment Networks ($8 per month), Sports($10 per month), and Español ($5 per month) add-on packs.

What are the features of Hulu + Live TV?

Customers get unlimited Cloud DVR storage with a Hulu + Live TV subscription, the ability to watch in up to 1080p, stream on two screens at a time, and create up to six profiles in the same household.

Hulu Live TV

Hulu Live TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 70 channels for $89.99 per month. Hulu + Live TV base plan includes local channels 32 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). Subscribers get free access to Disney+ and ESPN Select at no extra charge.

…

Where it really separates itself is value. Your subscription doesn’t just cover live TV — it also includes full access to Hulu’s on-demand library, plus bundled subscriptions to Disney+ and ESPN Select content at no extra cost. That means you’re getting everything from next-day network TV episodes and Hulu Originals, to Marvel, Star Wars, and live sports content all in one place without juggling multiple bills.

For sports fans, Hulu + Live TV also includes regional sports networks (RSNs) in select areas, a feature many competing services have dropped. That can be a big deal if you’re trying to follow local MLB, NBA, or NHL teams.

The DVR experience is another strong point. Subscribers get unlimited cloud DVR storage and the ability to fast-forward through commercials on recorded content — a feature that used to cost extra but is now standard. It’s designed to feel closer to a traditional cable DVR, just without the box.

If you want to customize further, several add-ons are available. You can upgrade to premium channels like HBO, Showtime, or Starz, add an unlimited streams option for households with lots of viewers, or go ad-free on Hulu’s on-demand content (live TV will still include ads).

Overall, Hulu + Live TV is less about being the cheapest option and more about being the most comprehensive. It’s built for people who want live TV, on-demand shows, and bundled streaming services all under one roof — without having to piece everything together themselves.
