‘Anaconda’ is in theaters, but these 7 other adventure comedies are streaming at home
You don’t need a theater ticket to get big laughs and big adventure right now.
Adventure comedies are one of my favorite movie genres. And while December has been a Christmas movie bonanza, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready to move on. That’s why it’s the perfect time for “Anaconda” to drop, the new adventure comedy starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black. That pairing alone sold me, and the jungle chaos plus big comedy energy feels perfectly in my wheelhouse. I don’t have my tickets yet, but it’s going to happen this week. In the meantime, I spent some time digging through my favorite adventure comedies of the last few years. Some of these are brand new, some surprised me way more than I expected, but all of them made movie night a win. Here are the best adventure comedy movies to stream right now.
Top 7 adventure comedy movies on streaming right now
No. 7: ‘Deep Cover’ (2025) | Prime Video

“Deep Cover” is such a weird little win. Tara and I live in the comedy world, so we were already rooting for this one, and it totally delivers. Bryce Dallas Howard plays Kat, an improv teacher whose career feels stuck in neutral until a very serious undercover cop pulls her into a completely unhinged plan. She’s supposed to help infiltrate London’s criminal underworld by pretending to be a gangster. Naturally, she brings along two of her students, played by Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed, and things spiral immediately.
Why this movie works is that it’s a legit undercover crime story with real stakes. Watching these three bluff their way through gangland meetings using pure “yes, and” confidence is endlessly funny. The chemistry is great, the chaos keeps escalating, and the whole thing feels like an improv class that accidentally wandered into a crime thriller. If you like crime stories with total mayhem energy, this one’s an easy recommendation.
Deep Cover
Kat is an improv comedy teacher beginning to question if she’s missed her shot at success. When an undercover cop offers her the role of a lifetime, she recruits two of her students to infiltrate London’s gangland by impersonating dangerous criminals.
No. 6: ‘Heads of State’ (2025) | Prime Video

Tara and I watched “Heads of State” the weekend it dropped because we’re both big Idris Elba fans and were genuinely curious how his no-nonsense vibe would play against John Cena’s softer, lovable chaos. Happy to report, it absolutely works. Elba and Cena play rival world leaders who get tossed into a full-blown international crisis, and the movie leans hard into buddy-cop energy with much higher stakes and much fancier suits.
The pacing is fast, the jokes are dumb in a good way, and the action goes bigger than you expect. The plane sequence alone is worth the price of admission. Cena fully commits to being ridiculous, Elba plays the exhausted straight man perfectly, and the movie never pretends to be smarter than it is. It’s loud, silly, and a total blast of a weekend watch.
Heads of State
The UK Prime Minister and US President have a public rivalry that risks their countries’ alliance. But when they become targets of a powerful enemy, they’re forced to rely on each other as they go on a wild, multinational run. Allied with Noel, a brilliant MI6 agent, they must find a way to thwart a conspiracy that threatens the free world.
No. 5: ‘Mickey 17’ (2025) | Prime Video

I went into “Mickey 17” knowing almost nothing beyond the trailers and expecting a pretty straight sci-fi movie. Instead, I got a dark, messy, very funny black comedy adventure movie, and I loved it. Bong Joon-ho leans fully into satire here, and the result is weird in the best way.
Robert Pattinson plays Mickey, an “Expendable” clone sent on a deadly space colonization mission where he’s replaced every time he dies. Things go sideways when two versions of Mickey end up alive at the same time, and suddenly the movie becomes about identity, survival, and one guy literally competing with himself. Pattinson is incredible, giving each version a totally distinct personality, and the supporting cast jumps right into the chaos with him. It’s smart, unhinged, and still just plain entertaining. If you like your sci-fi with a twisted sense of humor, this one’s for you.
Mickey 17
Unlikely hero Mickey Barnes finds himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.
No. 4: ‘The Family Plan 2’ (2025) | Apple TV

“The Family Plan 2” was an easy pick because Tara and I really liked the first one. We watched the original with her family last Christmas, and it was the perfect easy, crowd-pleasing movie. This sequel picks up with Dan trying to balance a holiday trip with what he thinks is a simple security job in London. Of course, that plan immediately blows up when it turns out the job is tied to his old assassin life.
From there, the movie turns into a fast, silly chase through London and Paris, with the whole family dragged along for the ride. There’s big action, lots of bickering, and a surprisingly sweet thread about a dad trying to reconnect with his kids while everything goes off the rails. It’s not realistic at all, and that’s the point. For a movie where you don’t have to think too hard, and everyone in the room will enjoy it, pick this one.
The Family Plan 2
Now that Dan’s assassin days are behind him, all he wants for Christmas is quality time with his kids. But when he learns his daughter has her own plans, he books a family trip to London—putting them all in the crosshairs of an unexpected enemy.
No. 3: ‘Fountain of Youth’ (2025) | Apple TV

“Fountain of Youth” might be my favorite movie of the year. Tara and I watched it together and were completely pulled in by the story, the visuals, and the overall vibe. John Krasinski and Natalie Portman play estranged siblings who get pulled back together by a globe-spanning mystery tied to the legendary Fountain of Youth. What starts as an awkward reunion quickly turns into a full-on treasure hunt packed with secret codes, ancient clues, and buried family history.
This movie absolutely nails the feeling of classic adventure films without feeling dusty or outdated. It captures that old “Indiana Jones” magic while still doing its own thing, right down to a fun nod involving the siblings’ late father. It looks incredible, the mystery is actually engaging, and the action sequences don’t overstay their welcome. The ending clearly sets up more, and if Apple TV turns this into a franchise, I’ll be first in line for the sequel.
Fountain of Youth
A treasure-hunting mastermind assembles a team for a life-changing adventure. But to outwit and outrun threats at every turn, he’ll need someone even smarter than he is: his estranged sister.
No. 2: ‘Novocaine’ (2025) | Prime Video

I saw “Novocaine” as one of Regal’s Monday Mystery Movies, and it rocks. Jack Quaid plays a sweet, awkward bank employee who has a rare condition that makes him unable to feel pain. It sounds like a gimmick until a robbery goes wrong and he’s forced into becoming a very reluctant action hero.
This movie is just fun. The action scenes are wildly creative, the violence is played for laughs without losing its edge, and Quaid nails the balance between panic, heart, and determination. It’s clever, bloody, weird, and way more charming than I expected. Easily one of the most fun and inventive comedies of the year.
Novocaine
When the girl of his dreams is kidnapped, everyman Nate turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.
No. 1: ‘A Minecraft Movie’ (2025) | Prime Video

I was extremely skeptical about a live-action “A Minecraft Movie,” and I could not have been more wrong. I caught it during its second weekend when the hype was everywhere, and honestly, it deserves it. The movie is funny, creative, and visually impressive from start to finish.
Jack Black is having a blast as Steve, but the whole cast shows up ready to play. Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, and Emma Myers bring so much charm that the group chemistry just clicks. The movie fully embraces the game’s logic, packs in great jokes and Easter eggs, and still finds room for real heart. Tara and I were laughing through the action, humming along to the musical numbers, and genuinely impressed by how well it all worked. Even if you’ve never touched the game, this is a joyful, family-friendly adventure that celebrates imagination in the best way possible.
A Minecraft Movie
Four misfits find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve.
