Big feelings, funny moments, and a few love triangles — these shows have it all.

here are my favorite rom-com TV shows streaming on Netflix right now.

Netflix has always been a spot for love stories — but when it comes to rom-com TV shows, they really know what they’re doing. It’s not just the swoon-worthy moments or the slow-burn romances. It’s the mix of smart writing, funny characters, and great premises (like a rabbi and an atheist who fall in love). Some shows lean into the awkwardness of dating, others go full fairytale, but they all bring something fun to the table. Whether you’re into teen crushes, chaotic love triangles, or adults just trying to figure it out, there’s something in the lineup that’ll hit. So, here are my top seven rom-com TV shows to stream on Netflix right now.

Top 7 rom-com TV shows streaming on Netflix right now:

No. 7: ‘Heartstopper’ (2022)

Coming in at No. 7 is “Heartstopper,” the sweet and quietly groundbreaking teen rom-com that built a global fanbase with its heartfelt storytelling. The series follows Nick and Charlie, two British teens whose friendship slowly turns into something more — and yes, the show fully leans into the giddy, awkward, and joyful parts of falling in love.

Season 3 tackled long-distance romance and growing pains with the same tenderness that made the first two seasons so beloved. And while fans were worried it might not get a proper ending, Netflix just confirmed a movie is on the way to wrap things up. With creator Alice Oseman back to write the script, the series is set to end the way it began — full of heart.

No. 6: ‘Master of None’ (2015)

My wife and I were totally enthralled by “Master of None.” It’s laugh-out-loud funny, unexpectedly heartfelt, and just a fun world to chill in for a few episodes at a time. Created by Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang, the show follows Dev, a struggling actor in New York, as he stumbles through dating, friendship, and the weird parts of adulthood.

What makes it stand out isn’t just the humor — it’s how the show plays with style, tone, and structure, giving each episode its own vibe. Whether it’s a full story about Dev’s immigrant parents or a silent episode about a deaf couple, it never gets predictable. It’s smart, funny, and packed with emotion.

30-year-old New York actor Dev takes on such pillars of maturity as the first big job, a serious relationship, and busting sex offenders on the subway.

No. 5: ‘Love’ (2016)

I’ll watch anything Judd Apatow is involved in. And “Love” is Apatow doing what he does best — capturing all the awkward, honest, and often hilarious parts of falling for someone. Created by Apatow, Lesley Arfin, and Paul Rust, the show follows Mickey and Gus, two LA misfits with a ton of personal baggage, who somehow end up trying to make a relationship work.

She’s a self-destructive radio producer, he’s a film nerd with a people-pleasing streak, and together they’re kind of a mess — but that’s what makes it feel so real. “Love” doesn’t gloss over the bad habits or uncomfortable moments. It leans in, showing how connection grows through all the chaos. It’s raw, funny, and totally bingeable.

Rebellious Mickey and good-natured Gus navigate the thrills and agonies of modern relationships.

No. 4: ‘Younger’ (2015)

The pressure to stay young has never been stronger — and “Younger” takes that idea and runs with it. The show follows Liza, a 40-something single mom who pretends to be 26 to land a job in publishing, and what starts as a clever workplace lie quickly turns into a messy, charming, and very funny rom-com.

She ends up juggling two love interests — a sweet, younger tattoo artist and her smart, slightly age-appropriate boss — while trying to keep her secret from blowing up her career and friendships. The whole thing is fast-paced, flirtatious, and full of will-they-won’t-they energy, with plenty of commentary on how much age really matters when it comes to love.

Younger

March 31, 2015

Liza Miller, a suddenly single stay-at-home mother, tries to get back into the working world, only to find it’s nearly impossible to start at the bottom at 40-year old. When a chance encounter convinces her she looks younger than she is, Liza tries to pass herself off as 26 and lands a job as an assistant at Empirical Press. Now she just has to make sure no one finds out the secret only she and her best friend Maggie share.

No. 3: ‘Emily in Paris’ (2020)

“Emily in Paris” has all the ingredients of a perfect rom-com: luxury locations, epic fashion, and an endless parade of hot people falling in and out of love. The show follows Emily Cooper, a marketing exec from Chicago who lands a dream gig in Paris — and promptly finds herself navigating culture clashes, chaotic work drama, and a string of very complicated relationships.

Paris isn’t just the backdrop here — it’s basically the co-star, showing up in every scene with jaw-dropping scenery, iconic cafés, and runway-worthy outfits. The show leans hard into its fantasy vibe, and that’s the point. It’s fun, flirty, and full of romantic chaos in the best way. Oh, and in Season 4 and Season 5, you’ll get a taste of Rome as well.

New passions. New fashions. New Emily? A plucky American marketing whiz spreads her wings in life and love after landing her dream job in Paris.

No. 2: ‘Sex and the City’ (1998)

“Sex and the City” is one of the all-time greats when it comes to rom-com TV. Set in late-’90s New York, the series follows four friends — Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha — as they tackle dating, heartbreak, careers, and friendship with brutal honesty and a lot of style.

At the center is Carrie Bradshaw, a columnist who turns her own romantic misadventures into writing material, but the real magic is in the group dynamic. Every brunch, bad date, and big decision feels relatable in that “yep, been there” kind of way. It’s definitely got a more female POV, but that’s part of the point. With sharp writing, iconic fashion, and a steady stream of love stories — good and bad — this one helped define the genre.

Sex and the City

June 6, 1998

Based on the bestselling book by Candace Bushnell, Sex and the City tells the story of four best friends, all single and in their late thirties, as they pursue their careers and talk about their sex lives, all while trying to survive the New York social scene.

The popular characters returned in the 2008 “Sex and the City” movie, 2010’s “Sex and the City 2,” and the 2021 series “And Just Like That…”

No. 1: ‘Nobody Wants This’ (2024)

For my money, “Nobody Wants This” is the best rom-com TV show streaming right now — full stop. Kristen Bell plays Joanne, a fiercely opinionated podcaster who’s trying to make sense of love, dating, and all the mess in between. But when she meets Noah (Adam Brody), a laid-back rabbi with his own ideas about relationships, things get complicated in the best way.

The show isn’t just funny — it’s thoughtful, grounded, and full of real chemistry between its leads. Bell and Brody are electric together, and the show actually lets them act like grown-ups, which is rare. It’s smart, romantic, and way more honest than most shows in the genre. For once, it’s nice watching two adults treat each other with respect. If you only watch one rom-com this year, make it this one. And make sure to catch up before Season 2 drops in October!
