Versant has been busy since completing its spin-off from NBCUniversal. Not only has it been attempting to solidify its cable channels on their own, outside of the larger NBCU umbrella, but now the company has expanded its inventory of free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels to 13, including four new selections that have launched or will launch on two of the biggest free streaming platforms available.

Key Details:

  • Connect four: Versant has added four new FAST channels to its portfolio.
  • Multiple sources: The channels are sourced from content on CNBC, E!, and Oxygen.
  • Staggered launch: Prime Video is now offering the four new channels, and they’ll begin rolling out on Roku Channel soon.

The four new FAST channels from Versant are sourced from some of the company’s most popular brands. The four channels include the “Snapped” channel, the “Botched” channel, Oxygen Murders of America, and CNBC Ambition. “Snapped” and Oxygen Murders of America are true crime channels, while “Botched” follows the world’s most extreme surgical transformations, and CNBC Ambition offers stories of entrepreneurship and success.

The four new channels have launched on Prime Video, joining the list of hundreds of FAST channels already found on the platform. They will also launch on The Roku Channel starting on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with a staggered rollout that will continue through Nov. 17.

In addition, The Roku Channel will add the Outlaw Channel and 365BLK channel from Versant in November. These channels are already available on Prime Video, but have not yet launched on Roku’s free streaming service. Outlaw features a selection of fan-favorite Western movies and series, while 365BLK offers a mix of culturally relevant content that will resonate with Black audiences.

The expanded distribution of Versant’s FAST channels will widen a key revenue stream for the company as it plots its future strategy. Now free of NBCU, its fate is uncertain, and it could be destined for acquisition in the future.
