What subtitle options are available on Peacock?
Like most streamers, Peacock offers subtitles with its content library. But how can they be turned on, and what options are available?
Want to make sure you don’t miss your favorite line in a song on “Wicked”? Did that joke on “The Office” go by a little too fast? Or are you one of thousands of deaf or hard-of-hearing customers who want to watch the best that Peacock has to offer with subtitles?
Peacock does indeed have subtitles available, and we’ll help you turn on captions with just a few remote button clicks. We’ll also let you know how to customize your captions and fill you in on your language options as well.
Everything you need to know about subtitles on Peacock
How to turn on subtitles on Peacock
It’s easy to turn on Peacock’s subtitles. First, start playback on the title you want to stream with subtitles. Then, pull up the playback controls and locate the subtitles and audio button — on the smart TV app and the web, this button is in the bottom-left corner of the screen, and on mobile it’s in the top-right corner.
Click this button, find the language you want to watch with, and click it to turn on subtitles. It’s a simple process, and it’ll have you watching with captions in two shakes.
What subtitle languages does Peacock offer?
During my user tests, I saw only English- and Spanish-language caption options on Peacock. Because Peacock isn’t widely available outside of the United States, I wouldn’t expect these options to vary greatly from region to region, so don’t expect to see much more on the service.
Can you change the appearance of subtitles on Peacock?
Yes, Peacock does allow you to make limited changes to the appearance of your captions while watching. To adjust them, go back to the subtitles menu you can access during playback. Then, click the Edit Style button that pops up next to your language choices. You can then change both the font and the style of your subtitles.
Will Peacock remember your subtitle choices?
Yes, there’s no need to worry that you’ll have to go back in and turn on your subtitles again when you exit Peacock. It will remember that you have them turned on, but of course, if you want them off again, you’ll have to go back into your settings and do so.
