WWE NXT ‘Stand and Deliver’ will stream free on YouTube

WWE NXT ‘Stand and Deliver’ will stream free on YouTube

Peacock has aired its last NXT PLE, and Shawn Michaels has announced on social media that YouTube will host at least the next one.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

Peacock is fast running out of WWE content. First, it lost premium live events (PLEs) featuring WWE’s top stable of wrestlers shifted to ESPN, and now the service has streamed its last WWE NXT event as well. WWE Hall of Famer and WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development, Creative, who oversees NXT, Shawn Michaels, posted on social media where fans can expect to watch the next NXT PLE — and the good news is, the host platform is free.

Key Details:

  • Eyes on us: NXT’s “Stand and Deliver” will air on YouTube on April 4.
  • Still unclear: There’s no indication that YouTube will be the permanent home of NXT PLEs.
  • Feathers plucked: Peacock’s only remaining live WWE content is the “Saturday Night Main Event” series.

Michaels, who now serves as an executive for NXT, posted on X (the social media site formerly known as Twitter) that the next NXT premium live event, “Stand and Deliver,” would be streamed live on YouTube starting at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 4.

“Stand and Deliver” will be the first WWE PLE to stream live on YouTube. The service has streamed Lucha Libre AAA events since that promotion’s purchase by WWE last year, but the announcement from Michaels represents a major step forward for the partnership between YouTube and WWE.

Michaels’ post did not indicate whether or not all NXT PLEs would be streamed on YouTube going forward, or if they will be licensed on a case-by-case basis until one partner is found to offer all of them. YouTube’s huge audience reach makes it an attractive partner for such events, even though its lack of a subscription fee makes it heavily reliant on ad revenues to pay sports leagues and promotions like WWE for their rights.

NXT is WWE’s developmental brand and has gained major traction with fans and programmers in recent years. In late 2023, WWE announced that NXT programming would begin airing on The CW. WWE has fully embraced streaming in recent years, shifting two of its flagship shows to stream live on Netflix weekly.

Peacock’s relationship with WWE is almost at an end, but not quite. The platform will still air “Saturday Night Main Event” specials from WWE, but outside of those events, the wrestling promotion has essentially moved on from the NBCUniversal streaming service.
