YouTube to add hundreds more ‘Sesame Street’ episodes
An expansion of the deal between YouTube and ‘Sesame Street’ will bring a huge amount of content to the free streamer.
The more things change, the more the popularity of “Sesame Street” stays the same. In the past year alone, the “Sesame Street” YouTube channel garnered more than 5 billion views, an increase of 130% over the year prior. Having free access to “Sesame Street” on a platform like YouTube is crucial, and that access is expanding after the two sides expanded their deal on Thursday.
Key Details:
- Full-length fun: Hundreds more full-length episodes of “Sesame Street” are coming to YouTube.
- Just for YouTube: “Sesame Street” content meant specifically for YouTube will continue to be offered.
- New on Netflix: Netflix will stream new episodes of “Sesame Street.”
The expansion of the deal between YouTube and “Sesame Street” will bring hundreds more full-length episodes of the kids’ show to the free streamer. Beginning in 2026, it will make YouTube the largest digital library of “Sesame Street” content anywhere, allowing fans to continue to watch the beloved series at no cost.
As part of the expanded partnership, YouTube creators will work with “Sesame Street” to share best practices on how to create content that can entertain, but also promotes learning in the healthiest ways for young minds. YouTube will continue to get exclusive content created by “Sesame Street” for its platform.
YouTube is a dominant platform for offering kids’ content, and younger viewers flock to the streamer routinely. Other shows for young audiences, like “Ms. Rachel” also call YouTube home, and the streamer will almost certainly keep trying to add even more content for kids.
Worries over the future of “Sesame Street” have abounded as the Trump administration does everything it can to defund public broadcasting, but the show seems to be continuing on well. Earlier this year, the series announced a deal to stream new episodes on Netflix, further expanding access.
Last month, Netflix revealed that new episodes of “Sesame Street” would begin streaming Nov. 10. Over the course of the fall and winter, viewers will be able to find the beloved, long-lived series on a multitude of platforms, including the paid streamer Netflix and its accustomed YouTube channel as well.
