See our prediction on when ‘Dog Man’ will be available to stream

Dog Man will eventually stream on Peacock, but when?

Does 2025 have you feeling the need for a new hero? If so, you might want to check out the new movie “Dog Man,” which officially arrives in theaters on Friday, Jan. 31. Based on the beloved book series by Dav Pilkey, “Dog Man” promises to be a hit with audiences, but when will it stream at home? We’ll give our best-educated guess below!

Key Details:

  • “Dog Man” is opening to good reviews from critics.
  • The movie is distributed by Universal Pictures, so will stream on Peacock first.
  • Experience suggests a wait of more than 100 days is likely.

Watch a trailer for “Dog Man”

“Dog Man” follows the story of a beloved police dog and his human companion. Injured in the line of duty, a risky surgery merges the two into Dog Man, a crime-fighting critter with a heart of gold. He must stand up to the evil Petey the Cat, all while trying to impress the Chief!

“Dog Man” has already gotten some impressive reviews, compiling a 79% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The ensemble voice cast includes Billy Boyd, Isla Fisher, Rickey Gervais Poppy Liu, and Stephen Root.

When will ‘Dog Man’ be streaming at home?

As always with new movie releases, there are two questions to answer about its streaming future. The question of where the movie will stream is easy to answer; as “Dog Man” is being distributed by Universal, it will stream on Peacock for four months once it leaves theaters. After that, it heads to Netflix for a period of 10 months.

Recent releases from Universal suggest that it could be a bit before “Dog Man” streams on Peacock. The fall 2024 release “The Wild Robot” came to streaming 119 days after its initial release, just one week after The Streamable predicted it would. “Kung Fu Panda 4” wasn’t available on Peacock until 105 days after bowing in theaters, and Trolls Band Together” spent 118 days in cinemas.

Ultimately, I’ll use the same release window for “Dog Man” that “The Wild Robot” used. If that prediction is accurate, the film will stream on Peacock on Friday, May 30. That would lead to a Netflix release sometime in late September or early October.
