Get ready to feel the thunder, “Kung Fu Panda” fans! The newest sequel in the franchise, titled simply “Kung Fu Panda 4” is officially coming to theaters on Friday, March 8, giving fans of the movie series another chance to see their favorite hero in action!

• “Kung Fu Panda 4” stars Jack Black, and has received generally favorable reviews from critics.
• The movie will stream on Peacock first when it leaves theaters and PVOD platforms, then head to Netflix.
• Judging from the length of time other Universal animated films have taken to hit streaming lately, “Kung Fu Panda 4” might take a while to reach Peacock.

“Kung Fu Panda 4” features Po at a crossroads. He wants to take over as spiritual leader in the Valley of Peace, but he must find someone worthy to take over the title of Dragon Warrior. As he trains a prospective replacement, a new villain called the Chameleon reveals himself and begins to conjure nemeses from Po’s past to take him on once again.

The movie has scored a 72% rating with critics on Rotten Tomatoes thus far, with reviewers agreeing that kids will find the movie a welcome member of the beloved franchise, even if parents may find its story a tad repetitive.

When Will ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Stream On-Demand?

Alas for parents hoping to avoid an expensive and time-consuming trip to the theater to watch “Kung Fu Panda 4” with the kids, it’s not yet available to stream on-demand. Fortunately, The Streamable’s experts are here to let you know when you might be able to watch it from the comforts of home.

Since “Kung Fu Panda 4” is produced and distributed by Dreamworks/Universal, it’s easy to say which service will get it once it’s done in theaters and on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms that allow customers to rent or buy it while it’s still in cinemas. Peacock will be its first on-demand streaming stop, where it will stay for an exclusive four-month period before moving to Netflix for a 10-month window thanks to the licensing deal between NBCUniversal and Netflix.

Just when “Kung Fu Panda 4” is headed to Peacock is a bit more difficult to determine. Universal’s global hit “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” spent 120 days in theaters and on PVOD platforms before moving to Peacock, which is unsurprising considering the film made over $1 billion in theaters. “Trolls Band Together,” another animated Universal movie released last year brought in just over $200 million in theaters, but it will still have taken 118 days to hit Peacock on March 15 after its November theatrical release.

With that in mind, The Streamable predicts that “Kung Fu Panda 4” will also be available on Peacock around 120 days after its March 8 theatrical debut. We think the movie will hit Peacock on Friday, July 5, which would mean it’ll come to Netflix in November for its 10-month run on that service. Fans can find the first two movies in the franchise on Peacock now, and “Kung Fu Panda 3” is currently on-demand on Netflix.
