DAZN to acquire EverPass Media
Commercial distribution rights for NFL Sunday Ticket and other streaming sports properties will fall under DAZN’s control.
DAZN has been busy in the sports rights marketplace this summer. The streamer most recently acquired the in-market streaming rights for Indiana Pacers games, and it’s continuing its acquisitive ways this week. As announced on Wednesday, DAZN is acquiring EverPass Media, the commercial distribution platform for major sports services like NFL Sunday Ticket.
Key Details:
- We’ll take it: DAZN is acquiring EverPass Media.
- Quite the inventory: EverPass distributes NFL Sunday Ticket, as well as live sports on Apple TV, Netflix, and other streamers.
- Another win: DAZN has also acquired a streaming tech company, as well as rights to YES Network and MSG teams this summer.
Financial terms of DAZN’s purchase of EverPass Media were not disclosed, but the companies revealed that EverPass will officially be rebranded as DAZN for Business. EverPass CEO Alex Kaplan will continue to lead the business, and current EverPass owners Redbird Capital Partners, 32 Equity — the strategic investment arm of the NFL — and TKO Group Holdings will become DAZN shareholders.
Current EverPass customers will continue to receive their service as usual. EverPass distributes a large number of major streaming sports properties; the company works in tandem with DIRECTV to distribute NFL Sunday Ticket to bars, restaurants, and other commercial establishments, as well as sports from Apple TV, Netflix, Paramount+, and Peacock.
That means DAZN will now be a commercial distributor for NBA, MLB, WNBA, NWSL, and MLS games, as well as Formula 1 and NASCAR races, college sports, the UEFA Champions League and English Premier League, and much more.
“This is an important step in DAZN’s journey to become a global home of sport,” DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev said. “EverPass Media gives us a proven commercial distribution platform, deep relationships across U.S. venues, and an attractive portfolio of premium rights that perfectly complements our growing U.S. business.”
DAZN has been busy in the marketplace this summer. The streamer acquired streaming rights to New York-based teams that appear on YES Network and [MSG Network], including the New York Yankees and the New York Knicks. It also purchased the streaming technology company ViewLift in May.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with DAZN through this acquisition and continue to work with EverPass and DAZN to deliver the best NFLST experience to the commercial marketplace,” NFL executive Hans Schroeder said. “Together, we will continue to expand reach for commercial NFL Sunday Ticket and deepen engagement in a key segment where fans gather for NFL football.”
