DIRECTV, Texas Rangers make new broadcast deal for 2025
DIRECTV will carry the new Rangers channel Rangers Sports Network for fans in five states.
The Texas Rangers are gone from FanDuel Sports Network airwaves, and they aren’t looking back. The MLB club left what was then called Bally Sports Southwest following the end of the 2024 season, and has since been working hard to ensure fans continue to have access to their games. On Thursday, the Rangers announced the creation of Rangers Sports Network, a new regional sports network that will carry their games for in-market viewers. Also on Thursday, the team made public its deal with DIRECTV to offer the channel to its satellite and streaming customers.
Key Details:
- DIRECTV customers will find Rangers Sports Network in the distributor’s CHOICE package.
- Customers in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and eastern New Mexico can get Rangers Sports Network on DIRECTV.
- The Rangers will also stream games for in-market customers on the Victory+ streaming service.

DIRECTV subscribers will be able to watch Rangers Sports Network in the company’s CHOICE packages or higher. On DIRECTV STREAM, the CHOICE plan comes with more than 150 channels depending on the market, and costs $115 per month, with no extra fee to receive regional sports networks. Rangers Sports Network will be channel 677 on DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, and DIRECTV via internet, and will occupy U-verse channels 1752 (HD)/752 (SD).
The channel will be available to customers in five states: Arkansas, Louisiana, eastern New Mexico, Oklahoma, and of course Texas. The channel will carry live Rangers games that aren’t slated to appear on national channels like ESPN, Fox, or TBS, as well as pre-game and post-game analysis.
“We continue to believe in the unique power of local teams like the Texas Rangers to unite the communities they call home, and this relationship will continue to distinguish DIRECTV as an industry leader for baseball fans,” said Rob Thun, Chief Content Officer of DIRECTV. “We want to create opportunities for local fans and businesses to support their hometown teams while also offering consumers more choice, flexibility, and the ability to obtain the programming they feel best meets their own interests at a good value.”
The Rangers have also created a new streaming option for fans who don’t want to watch the team through a more traditional pay-TV plan. The team announced a deal to stream all in-market games on Victory+ this year, with a season-long subscription costing just $100. That doesn’t give you access to other TV channels like a DIRECTV subscription would, but you can unlock the entire season’s worth of in-market games for a much lower price.
Unlike the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres, the Rangers decided not to have MLB itself produce and distribute its games after leaving a regional sports network. Perhaps the club gets to keep more of the revenue from its broadcasts by creating its own regional channel to air games on, but regardless, fans will have more options to watch Rangers games than ever before this season.
