To start, DIRECTV STREAM is now offering the ad-supported version of Max in its MyEntertainment package at no extra cost to subscribers. This channel package already offers over 40 popular cable entertainment networks, including Bravo, Discovery, FX, and more. MyEntertainment also comes with ad-supported subscriptions to Disney+ and Hulu for just $35 per month. It was also announced on Thursday that starting next week, the Ovation channel will also join the plan.
In addition, DIRECTV STREAM is rolling out more baseball options just in time for the start of the 2025 MLB season. Starting Friday, March 28, the MyHome Team add-on pack for the MySports package will include Spectrum SportsNet LA for watching the Los Angeles Dodgers, Spectrum SportsNet for the Los Angeles Lakers, and the MLB-owned-and-operated team channels for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, Colorado Rockies, Minnesota Twins, and San Diego Padres. Also, the Guardians’ and Twins’ channels are launching for DIRECTV satellite and U-Verse customers in their respective TV markets, and are available in most DIRECTV homes using those services starting on Thursday.
The MyHome Team add-on now includes 22 regional sports networks, offering broadcasts from 18 MLB, 16 NBA, and 10 NHL franchises. This Mini-Pack add-on costs $20 per month, and is available to customers of the MySports genre pack, including more than 20 national sports networks and ESPN+. The sports-focused channel option costs $70 per month.
Beginning next week, C-SPAN and C-SPAN2 will be added to the MyNews package as well. This plan comes with cable and broadcast news options, and costs $40 per month. This move has been in the news lately as Congressman Mike Flood took to the floor of the House of Representatives to encourage live TV streaming services to carry the commentary-free political channel.
The genre-specific packages on DIRECTV STREAM represent an evolution of live TV streaming that allows viewers to watch more of what they want, and pay for less of what they don’t watch. Each package costs considerably less than streaming plans from competing services like Fubo and YouTube TV, and comes with popular cable channels and, in some cases, on-demand streaming services at no extra cost.
