Ready to leave ESPN+? How to do it, and what you should try next
ESPN+ is a leader in sports streaming options, but if you’re ready to leave it behind, we’ll show you how to do it!
ESPN+ is often thought of as the throw-in service that comes with a Disney Bundle subscription. But it shouldn’t be underestimated; after all, you can stream select NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL games on ESPN+, to say nothing of the fact that it hosts all UFC pay-per-view events as well.
There are 30,000 live sporting events on ESPN+ every year, but that amount of choice can get a little overwhelming. If you don’t use your ESPN+ subscription enough to justify the cost and are ready to cancel, we’ll show you how to do it, and give you some options for other services to try while you’re at it.
Everything you need to know about canceling ESPN+
How to cancel ESPN+
We’ll run through two ways to cancel ESPN+ here, since there’s a good chance viewers will have the streamer as part of the Disney Bundle. If you bill directly through ESPN+, however, the instructions to cancel a subscription are as follows:
- Click here to head to your ESPN+ account.
- Go to your profile avatar in the corner, and click Account.
- Click Manage Subscription.
- Click on your subscription under Plans & Billing.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
If you do get ESPN+ through the Disney Bundle, be aware that you’ll have to cancel your subscription to the entire bundle to get rid of ESPN+. You can then sign up for Disney+ or Hulu again separately to continue without ESPN+, but there is no way to cancel ESPN+ individually within the bundle. To cancel your Disney Bundle, including ESPN+, you must:
- Click here to open your Disney+ account.
- Find your profile avatar, and click Account.
- Click on your subscription under Plans & Billing.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
Will canceling your ESPN+ subscription lock you out immediately?
No. If you cancel your ESPN+ subscription, you can still use your account until the end of your current billing cycle. Once that is concluded, you will be locked out of your ESPN+ account.
Will canceling ESPN+ wipe out your viewing history?
Because you sign up to ESPN+ using your MyDisney account, your settings will be saved as long as that account is active. If you delete your MyDisney account, however, you will also lose your viewing history and profile settings on ESPN+.
What alternatives to ESPN+ are available?
Peacock doesn’t offer as many sports as ESPN+ does, but it comes with an impressive lineup nevertheless. It carries every “Sunday Night Football” game during the NFL season, Notre Dame football, English Premier League soccer, Big 10 football and basketball, Big East basketball, NASCAR races, Olympics coverage, and starting in 2025, NBA regular season and playoff games. That’s in addition to other great programming on Peacock, like Universal movies, NBC titles, Bravo reality shows, and more. A subscription to Peacock starts at just $8 per month, so you’ll save some money over ESPN+ too.
Peacock
Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” “The Office,” and original hits like “Poker Face” and “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports and NBC programming, including the NFL, MLB, WWE, the Olympics, the Premier League, NASCAR, the French Open, college football and basketball, and the PGA Tour. Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.
If you were subscribed to ESPN+ to watch combat sports like UFC, you should check out a subscription to DAZN. This streamer is a bit more expensive at $25 per month, but there’s no additional charge to watch events from Matchroom USA, Bellator, Golden Boy Promotions, World Boxing Super Series, and Combate Americas. You’ll also be able to stream the new FIFA Club World Cup, more soccer, and other sports programming with a DAZN subscription in the United States.
DAZN
DAZN is an international sports streaming service dedicated to live and on-demand sports programming. Since its launch in 2016, the platform has expanded to become one of the world’s leading sports streaming destinations, offering coverage that varies by region and includes boxing, soccer, MMA, women’s sports, motorsports, and other major competitions.
