The 2025 ISU World Speed Skating Championships will take place in Norway while the ISU World Short Track Championships will happen in China. Additionally, CNBC will air four hour-long highlight shows to recap the action over the weekend. However, in order to watch all of the world’s fastest skaters live, you will need a subscription to Peacock.

Why we recommend watching the 2025 ISU World Speed Skating Championships on Peacock
Well, quite frankly, we recommend watching the championships live on Peacock, because Peacock is the only place where you can watch the championships live. The NBCUniversal streaming service is the exclusive broadcast home for the event this year. However, with the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, you are going to want to be signed for the service eventually, so now is the perfect time to subscribe to Peacock for as little as $8 per month so that you can watch all of the winter sports coverage leading up to next year’s Games.
Peacock’s cable channel sibling CNBC will broadcast highlights of the action on Saturday and Sunday. So, if you aren’t worried about watching the events live (or potentially being spoiled), that is an option as well.
Peacock
Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” “The Office,” and original hits like “Poker Face” and “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports and NBC programming, including the NFL, MLB, WWE, the Olympics, the Premier League, NASCAR, the French Open, college football and basketball, and the PGA Tour. Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.
Can you watch the 2025 ISU World Speed Skating Championships for free?
Unfortunately, you cannot legally watch the championships for free as they happen. However, Peacock is one of the most cost-effective platforms in streaming. You can sign up for the ad-supported Peacock Premium tier for just $8 per month or the ad-free Premium Plus option for $14 monthly.
Keep in mind that regardless of which tier you opt for, live events — including sports — will still have commercial breaks. But, should you go with Peacock Premium Plus, all of your on-demand viewing will be without ads.
Now, if you just want to catch up on everything that happens at the world championships and you don’t mind being behind on the action, CNBC is an option. The normally business-focused cable channel will air a highlight show of Thursday and Friday’s events on Saturday, and a recap of Saturday and Sunday’s action on Sunday afternoon. Those will be followed by highlight shows from the Short Track Championships as well.
If you want to go this route, you can take advantage of the free trial to Hulu + Live TV to watch the world championships. Hulu offers a three-day free trial, so you can watch the two days of highlight shows without having to pay a dime. Hulu + Live TV is also an excellent option, because it comes with the complete Disney Bundle at no additional cost.
So, in addition to all of the broadcast and cable channels available on Hulu’s live TV streaming service, you will also get the full Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ streamers as well.

What you need to know about the 2025 ISU World Speed Skating Championships
Team USA speed skating star and reigning world All-Around champion Jordan Stolz is expected to take part in the world championships in Norway this weekend. In China at the Short Track Championships, 1000m world champion Kristen Santos-Griswold is scheduled to be on hand.
Jordan Stolz will look to win his third-straight world championship in the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m events. Dutch skater Jenning de Boo, who just beat Stolz by nine hundredths of a second in the 500m at the World Cup event two weeks ago will also be on hand looking to take even more titles from the American.
At the short track event in China, the U.S.’s contingent will be led by Kristen Santos-Griswold and Andrew Heo. Santos-Griswold clinched this year’s Crystal Globe, awarded for the most points gained across all six World Tour events. The United States also aims to improve upon its third-place finish in the 2000m mixed relay from last year’s World Championships.
