How to stream NASCAR’s return to Chicagoland this weekend

After seven years away, the NASCAR Cup Series is finally heading back to Chicagoland Speedway. The eero 400 goes down Sunday, July 5, at 6 p.m. ET on TNT, with drivers taking on 267 laps and 400 miles around the 1.5-mile intermediate track in Joliet, Illinois. The last Cup Series race here came back in 2019, when Alex Bowman held off Kyle Larson and Joey Logano for the win, so there’s a little mystery baked into this one since a lot has changed since then. Denny Hamlin comes in as the favorite and the points leader, but Tyler Reddick is only one point behind him, so this could be a huge race for the standings. You can stream all the racing action with Sling TV’s multitude of subscription options.

Why we like Sling TV for watching the NASCAR eero 400

If you want to watch NASCAR, summer sports, big live events, and whatever show everyone’s suddenly talking about without bouncing between a million apps, Sling TV makes a lot of sense. It’s one of the more affordable live TV streaming options out there, and that matters when you’ve got a NASCAR weekend with practice, qualifying, and the race all airing across live channels. Plus, with football season getting closer, this is a pretty good time to figure out your live TV setup before weekends get packed again.

What really helps Sling stand out is that you don’t have to subscribe the same way everyone else does. Sling offers more ways to subscribe than most major live TV streaming services. You can grab a single-day pass starting at $5, go with a three-day or week-long option, build around a smaller package that fits what you actually watch, or just get the full standard lineup for $61 per month. Even at that monthly price, Sling is still one of the cheaper ways to get live TV.

For the full eero 400 weekend, Sling Blue is the cleanest option. It costs $46 per month and includes TNT and truTV, so you’ll be covered for the race, practice, and qualifying. Sling Blue also includes local ABC, NBC, and Fox stations in select markets. But if you only want to stream the race itself on TNT and then move on, Sling’s day, weekend, and week-long passes are an easy workaround because they give you short-term access to Sling Orange without committing to a full month.

Sling TV

Sling TV is The Streamable’s choice for cord-cutters on a budget. Sling is a live TV streaming service with multiple channel packages. The $45.99/month Sling Orange plan offers about 30 channels, including Disney Channel and ESPN. The $45.99/month Sling Blue plan offers about 40 channels, including ABC, Fox, and NBC in major markets.

You can combine Orange+Blue for a total of $60.99 / month. Sling also offers many channel add-on packages starting at $6/month.

Can you watch the NASCAR eero 400 for free?

If you’re only trying to stream the eero 400 and don’t want to pay for a full month of live TV, you’ve got a few free-trial routes to work with. The catch, of course, is that trial lengths aren’t always as clear as they should be. DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, and YouTube TV all have trial options, but the exact number of free days can depend on when you sign up and whether you’ve had an account before.

The easiest pick is DIRECTV STREAM. It generally comes with a five-day free trial, which gives you enough time to catch practice, qualifying, and Sunday’s race before making a call on whether to stick with it. Hulu + Live TV can also work, since it usually offers new subscribers a three-day trial, which should still get you through race day.

YouTube TV is the one where you’ll want to slow down to try and find the fine print. It advertises trials of “up to two weeks,” but some people only see a much shorter window which can be frustrating if you’re signing up specifically for one race. Before you subscribe, check the checkout screen closely so you know exactly how many free days you’re actually getting.
