When will ‘Disclosure Day’ be available to stream?
Stephen Spielberg’s latest interplanetary epic will be available to stream on Peacock beginning on Friday, Oct. 9, at 3:01 a.m. ET. Not to toot our own horns, but that is exactly when The Streamable's David Satin predicted the film would arrive on the NBCUniversal streaming platform when it made its debut in theaters this summer.
Why watch ‘Disclosure Day’ on Peacock?
If you are looking to stream “Disclosure Day” as part of a subscription to a streaming service, Peacock is the only way to go. The movie will stay on Peacock for an exclusive four-month run before shifting to Prime Video on or around Feb. 9, 2027. After that, it will return to Peacock and can be licensed to other streamers as NBCU sees fit.
If you don’t have Peacock and/or Prime Video, it is available to rent or buy on transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, and more. So, while it will likely cost you a bit more, if you want to be able to watch the movie at any time, regardless of your various subscription statuses, there are options available.
Can you watch ‘Disclosure Day’ for free?
Unfortunately, not at this moment. Peacock is not currently offering a free trial. The platform offers three separate subscription tiers, but only the two premium options will provide access to “Disclosure Day.” Although Peacock Select only costs $9 per month, it does not come with the full Peacock library. The cheapest ad-supported tier comes with next-day streaming for current-season NBC and Bravo and select older seasons from the NBCU television library.
“Disclosure Day,” however, will be available on Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus, which run $13 and $20 respectively.

Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.

What is ‘Disclosure Day’ about?
In the movie, Emily Blunt stars as Margaret Fairchild, a Kansas City television meteorologist whose seemingly ordinary life takes a bizarre turn when she begins experiencing unexplained phenomena, including an unsettling incident during a live broadcast. Meanwhile, cybersecurity expert Daniel Kellner (Josh O’Connor) discovers classified evidence suggesting that extraterrestrial life has been present on Earth for decades. Determined to expose the truth, he becomes a whistleblower, placing himself in the crosshairs of a powerful organization intent on keeping humanity’s biggest secret from becoming public knowledge.
As their seemingly separate stories begin to converge, Margaret and Daniel find themselves caught in a dangerous conspiracy involving government secrecy, powerful corporate interests, and questions about humanity’s place in the universe. Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson round out the ensemble in a film that blends the suspense of a conspiracy thriller with the wonder and existential questions that have defined some of Spielberg’s most beloved science-fiction adventures.
What did critics, audiences think of ‘Disclosure Day’?
Critics generally gave the movie positive reviews upon its release, especially praising the film’s star, Emily Blunt. As of now, “Disclosure Day” has an 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is down from 82% when the film was released in theaters. On Metacritic, the movie has a 74 score as of this writing, indicating “Generally Favorable” reviews, down just one point from its cinema release score.
Audiences who saw preview screenings of “Disclosure Day” initially gave the movie a 75% score, according to Rotten Tomatoes, but that score has dropped rather significantly since its wide release, and now sits at 69%.
Personally, I thought that the film was a testament to Spielberg’s genius as a visual director. The images and way that he presented the movie were gorgeous and only added to the story’s inherent impact. Similarly, the performances were uniformly wonderful, with Blunt delivering another standout performance. O’Connor, Domingo, Firth, and Hewson are also excellent, even if the material doesn’t always rise to their talents.
The major issue holding the film back is that neither its plot machinations nor worldview felt especially coherent or compelling. Spielberg is clearly grappling with big, messy issues, and while a satisfying story doesn’t have to resolve those types of challenges, it does have to make sure that they connect with the audience, and I just didn’t feel their impact the way that I wanted. To me, Spielberg had the ingredients right, but was stuck with an old, outdated recipe that just wasn’t as satisfying by today’s palate.
How did ‘Disclosure Day’ do at the box office?
To date, the movie has brought in $243.8 million at the global box office, compared to its $115 million budget. Given the typical assumption that a movie needs to bring in two and a half times its budget at the box office to turn a profit, in order to account for marketing and distribution costs, “Disclosure Day” is close, but not quite there.
However, digital and physical media sales will obviously contribute to its total, as will Peacock subscription fees, eventual licensing deals, and other ancillary money-making opportunities that NBCU will undoubtedly concoct.
