NBC drops details about NBA viewing experience on Peacock
The NBA returns to NBC this fall, and fans who choose to watch on Peacock will get a rich and interactive experience.
John Tesh’s “Roundball Rock” is officially returning to NBC this fall, but that’s not all that the network has in store to welcome basketball back to its airwaves. The NBA’s newest broadcast deal begins at the start of the 2025-26 season and will see national games split amongst ESPN, Prime Video, and NBC, with games on NBC also set to stream on Peacock. As part of its Upfront presentation on Monday, NBCUniversal revealed new details about the viewing experience fans can expect while streaming NBA games on Peacock.
Key Details:
- Just go live!: Live in Browse will let fans jump straight into the game when they open Peacock.
- Catch up fast: Viewers who join a stream late can use the Catch Up with Key Plays function.
- Play along: The Peacock ScoreCard feature will let viewers earn points based on what happens in a game.
Live in Browser
The first new feature that NBA fans will notice while watching games on Peacock is the Live in Browser view that will pop up when games are live. Viewers will see the game playing as the backdrop of the Peacock app, and key stats from top players will be displayed so that viewers are immediately caught up on what’s going on.
Can’t Miss Highlights
Can’t Miss Highlights is a feature for mobile users, which will see a new content row placed on the home screen that allows viewers to see the biggest moments in a given game. Watch blistering blocks, devastating dunks, and scintillating steals with Can’t Miss Highlights and get caught up on the action.
Peacock Performance View
If you love stats, Peacock Performance View will be for you. This feature allows viewers to toggle an onscreen data overlay of real-time stats that are key to the game, including which player is on a hot streak shooting-wise, and where they might be likely to score from next.
Peacock ScoreCard
The Peacock ScoreCard will allow fans to get even closer to the action, letting them pick stats to keep track of as the game goes along. Viewers will earn points as the players on the court hit the stats fans pick for their ScoreCards, and those who use the ScoreCard feature will be able to see how their card ranks against others.
Other features of Peacock’s NBA experience
Audiences who choose to watch NBA games on Peacock will be able to use the Catch Up with Key Plays feature to join games late without missing any of the biggest moments. Catch Up with Key Plays will show fans pivotal turning points in the game so far, so they know exactly what’s going on and why their favorite team is winning — or losing.
Coming later in the season, Peacock will launch Courtside Live, with insider camera angles that let viewers get up close and personal with players and coaches. This will be available on mobile and other devices, and is meant to celebrate the NBA culture and give fans an even more immersive experience.
