Netflix is the worldwide leader in streaming, with more than 300 million customers around the world. With that being the case, the streamer has to make sure it’s at the forefront of streaming from a technical aspect as well as a content standpoint. To that end, Netflix announced on Monday that it was adding support for HDR10+.

Key Details:

  • HDR10+ shows greater contrasts between light and dark, making for a better picture quality overall.
  • Netflix is making HDR10+ available only to its Premium subscribers.
  • Disney+ also rolled out HDR10+ availability earlier this year.

The rollout of HDR10+ support on Netflix means that select subscribers will be able to enjoy improved picture quality while streaming the service. HDR10+ captures multiple frames per image, making for greater contrasts between light and dark and allowing for a better viewing experience for the human eye.

HDR10+ will only be available on select Netflix titles, and customers must be Premium subscribers in order to use it. The Premium plan costs $25 per month, and also allows viewers to stream ad-free and in Ultra-High-Definition 4K as well.

Viewers will also need a smart TV and/or streaming player that is compatible with HDR10+ to watch titles using this enhancement. Most modern 4K TVs also come with the ability to stream video in HDR10+, but if your set is a little older, it may not be compatible.

Netflix is not the only streamer to roll out HDR10+ support in 2025. Disney+ also introduced HDR10+ in January, and services from Apple TV+ to Prime Video also use it. Now, Netflix Premium subscribers will be able to watch some of the streamer’s best titles using HDR10+ as well.
