Peacock Now Offering Free Access to All Instacart+ Members
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 29, all Instacart+ members will get free access to Peacock Premium as part of their account.
Anyone who’s attempted to make a grocery run during the holidays knows just how much of a hassle it can be. Instacart is a great way to skip that hassle entirely, as the service will have your groceries delivered straight to your front door. Starting this week, Instacart+ subscribers will get a new perk with their account, thanks to a new partnership between Instacart and Peacock.
- Instacart+ subscribers now get free access to ad-supported Peacock Premium with their account.
- Instacart+ costs $99.99 per year, but now users who were already subscribed to Peacock can save $59.99 per year.
- Peacock’s last corporate partnership announcement was last December’s notice that it was becoming the exclusive streaming partner of JetBlue.
What Does the Instacart, Peacock Partnership Entail?
Instacart and Peacock have announced that they’ve come together to offer all Instacart+ subscribers free access to ad-supported Peacock Premium. That means they’ll be able to watch original shows and movies like “The Irrational” and “Five Nights at Freddy's,” live sports like the NFL and every single event of next year’s Summer Olympics in Paris, and so much more.
“Peacock and Instacart are both fast-growing brands that aim to deliver a great experience and exceptional value to our customers,” said Annie Luo, EVP, Head of Global Partnerships and Strategic Development, Peacock. “With TV viewing and grocery delivery at their peak during the holiday season, it’s the perfect time to launch this partnership and lean into big moments across NBCUniversal.”
Instacart+ can be had for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. Members enjoy unlimited free delivery on orders over $35 in as fast an hour, lower service fees, 5% credit back on eligible pickup orders, and the ability to create shared family accounts. Now, they get to sit back and stream more than 80,000 hours of content on Peacock, a $59.99 annual value.
“Instacart+ helps deliver all of the snacks and beverages a Peacock viewer needs for a must-see TV night,” Instacart VP Heather Rivera said. “We’re excited to marry the convenience of shopping with Instacart with Peacock’s unparalleled content offerings. An hour saved on a trip to the store means an hour more of fan-favorite shows from Peacock.”
What Other Streamers Are in Similar Corporate Partnerships?
This new deal with Instacart is just Peacock’s latest foray into the world of corporate partnerships. Last December, Peacock agreed to be the exclusive streaming partner of JetBlue, sending selections of Peacock shows to seatback screens on thousands of JetBlue flights.
Paramount+ has also paired with a big company in the past 18 months. The streamer has allowed users of Walmart+ free access to its ad-supported plan since last August in a partnership designed to appeal to streaming customers in Middle America.
Such partnerships are lucrative for streaming providers, even if they have to offer their service to users for free. They get a lump sum for those new users from whichever corporate entity they’ve teamed with, plus they still collect more revenue from advertisers because all those new eyes are watching the ad-supported plan. These agreements will likely become more common as streamers look for new ways to build scale, so keep a lookout to see if your favorite subscription service partners with a streamer! Instacart+ customers should check their accounts because they now have free access to Peacock Premium!
