Peacock’s top subscription tier is now officially on Roku Channel
Previously, customers could only sign up for the ad-supported version of Peacock through Roku.
The Roku Channel digital store has a great selection of premium services for subscribers to choose from. Signing up for additional streamers through Roku allows customers to keep all their bills in a single place, and the marketplace is now adding a new and popular streaming plan to its inventory. Roku has long aimed to be at the center of sports streaming, and now by offering Peacock Premium Plus, it unlocks even more options for fans. After an initial announcement last week, on Tuesday, Roku confirmed that Peacock Premium Plus is now available via its Premium Subscription platform across the United States
Key Details:
- Spread those feathers: Peacock’s Premium Plus plan is joining The Roku Channel digital store.
- Great features: The Premium Plus plan is ad-free and has a wide selection of programming.
- Multiple additions: Roku added Apple TV in March.
The Peacock Premium Plus plan will be joining The Roku Channel in the coming weeks. Up until now, Roku has only offered ad-supported Peacock subscriptions on its platform, so the launch of Premium Plus gives audiences another high-quality option.
Peacock Premium Plus now costs $17 per month and cuts out ads during playback of on-demand titles. Viewers still have to watch ads during live sports on Peacock Premium Plus, but that’s a small trade-off for a service that includes live NFL, MLB, and NBA games, as well as Big Ten football and basketball, Notre Dame football, and a lot more at no extra cost.
“With Premium Subscriptions, our goal is simple: to make it easier for viewers to discover and watch the content they love without keeping track of multiple apps and logins,” Roku’s president of subscriptions Gil Fuchsberg said. “Peacock is an important addition to our growing lineup of Premium Subscriptions, and we’re thrilled to give Roku customers another way to discover and engage with NBCUniversal’s world-class subscription entertainment and sports.”
The new option will launch on Roku in the coming weeks and, when it does, may help Roku further build its inventory of streaming households. Earlier in April, Roku announced that it had surpassed 100 million streaming homes around the world, and that over half of American smart TVs or streaming players are using the Roku operating system.
“At NBCUniversal, our first priority is serving our fandoms and making it easier for our audiences to find and enjoy the content they love,” NBCUniversal president of platform distribution and partnerships Matt Schnaars said. “By bringing Peacock Premium Plus to Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel, we’re expanding access to our world-class programming and giving fans more choice in how they watch.”
The addition of Peacock’s highest subscription tier serves to strengthen the relationship between the still fledgling streamer and Roku, the most-used streaming system in North America. Peacock Premium Plus joins the other two Peacock subscription options on Roku, along with myriad NBCU free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels. The two companies also partnered on a special Winter Olympics Experience hub earlier this year, as well as in the 2024 Summer Games.
The addition of Peacock Premium Plus is just the most recent one to the Roku Channel marketplace. In March, Roku added Apple TV to their platform as well. Customers will soon be able to sign up for Peacock Premium Plus directly through their Roku device or the company’s website. Keep an eye out, because the ad-free Peacock plan will be available on The Roku Channel soon.
