About The Shards
Transport yourself to Los Angeles in 1981, where seventeen-year-old Bret Easton Ellis navigates his senior year at the prestigious Buckley prep school. His calculated reality is shattered by the arrival of Robert Mallory, a captivating yet enigmatic new student with a dark aura. As Robert integrates himself into Bret's elite social circle, his presence suspiciously aligns with the gruesome rampage of a serial killer known as The Trawler. Bret becomes increasingly obsessed with the connection between the newcomer and the murders, spiraling into a web of suspicion and voyeurism. The narrative captures a pivotal moment of transition, where the superficiality of youth culture meets the brutal reality of a predator stalking the golden streets of California. This atmospheric thriller provides a gripping look at the obsession and isolation of a young writer coming of age during a time of suburban dread.
