Sling Freestream users now have access to a huge array of Spanish-language content, thanks to the addition of Canela.TV. That channel, along with Canela Telenovelas, Canela Deportes, Canela Clasicos and Canela Cinema are all available to stream on Sling Freestream now.

These channels offer entertainment options ranging from Canela Original docu-series “Mi Vida” featuring Latin stars such as William Levy, Danny Trejo, Gaby Espino, Ludwika Paleta, Kate del Castillo, and Roselyn Sánchez; “Secretos de Villanas,” a drama-filled reality series with the most iconic Telenovela villains of all time.

The new additions to Sling Freestream also include live news shows ¡PONLE CANELA! and Canela News, featuring up-to-date coverage of the latest entertainment and global news; children’s programming from Canela Kids including the new original series “SúperEllas” to the most well-known hits like “Blippi,” “Cocomelon and Pocoyo;” and the latest in sports - from live MASL and boxing coverage to the newly-launched original show “100% Futbol.”

“We’re excited to be a part of Sling’s new Freestream service to extend the reach of Canela.TV to new audiences looking for quality content, free and in español,” Canela Media CEO and founder Isabel Rafferty Zavala said. “Canela.TV has a wide range of free culturally relevant content that cannot be found on other platforms.”

The additions of these Canela channels to Sling Freestream bring its total count of Spanish-language channels to more than 85. A 2022 survey found that seven out of 10 Latino viewers watched Spanish-language programming, and that viewership of Spanish content on streaming platforms had risen 11% year-over-year from 2021, so there’s clearly a hearty demand for more offerings in Spanish.

Sling Freestream viewers have grown accustomed to seeing the service add new channels, as its count now stands near 300. Just last week, Freestream added new content from Great American Media, and at the end of April the service brought on new channels dedicated to Broadway shows, live news, and even sports content from ESPN.

Sling Freestream

Sling Freestream is a free ad-supported TV service offered through Sling TV, offering one of the largest free live TV lineups available today. Viewers get access to more than 520 live channels and over 41,000 on-demand movies and TV episodes without needing a paid subscription. The service blends live news, sports, entertainment, reality TV, movies, and kids’ programming into a single app experience that works across most major streaming devices.

The lineup includes always-on news coverage from channels like ABC News Live, CBS News, Scripps News, Bloomberg TV, and more, making it easy to keep up with breaking stories and live events for free. Entertainment fans can jump into channels featuring content from MTV, Comedy Central, BET, VH1, and other familiar brands, with everything from sitcom marathons and reality shows to stand-up comedy and late-night highlights. Sling Freestream also features popular series and franchises, including “Hell’s Kitchen,” “The Walking Dead,” and classic crime and competition shows that rotate regularly throughout the platform.

For families, Freestream offers a growing selection of children’s programming, including channels from Sensical, Nick Jr., and other kid-friendly brands, featuring cartoons, educational content, and preschool favorites. Movie lovers can browse a constantly refreshed library of free films alongside themed live movie channels that stream action, comedy, thriller, and holiday content around the clock.

One of Freestream’s more unique features is its collection of “sneak peek” channels and free episode samplers from premium networks and streaming brands like AMC+, MGM+, STARZ, and TNT. These curated previews let viewers sample hit shows and original programming without signing up for another subscription, giving users a taste of premium TV at no cost.

Sports and international programming are also a major part of the experience. Freestream carries free sports-focused channels including beIN SPORTS XTRA and other niche sports feeds, while international viewers can watch programming in seven languages through channels like AajTak International, Zona TUDN, ARY News, France24, SonyKal, Noticias Univision 24/7, TVP World, Al Jazeera English, and Al Arabiya.

In addition to its free streaming catalog, Sling also offers a built-in movie rental store where users can rent newer theatrical releases and popular films without subscribing to a paid TV package. Rental pricing typically ranges from $3.99 to $24.99, depending on the title and release window, giving cord-cutters another flexible viewing option directly inside the Sling app.
