Which streamers should you keep, cut in September 2025?
There’s an awful lot of good TV coming out in September, but which streamers offer the best of the best?
So long, summer! September has arrived, and the official start of fall is now just a few weeks off. With September comes the start of fall sports, the beginning of peak TV season, and other top programming choices. With that in mind, we’ve assembled our monthly list of streaming services you need to keep this month, and which to cut.
Keep in mind, when reading, that I decided not to make the availability of football the deciding factor because so many streaming services offer NFL and college football games. There’ll be plenty more detail on that as you read, however.
Which streamers can you keep, and which should you cut in September 2025
Streamers to keep
Peacock
We’ll start this article with Peacock, which may not be on too many viewers’ good side these days, thanks to a recent price increase. Nevertheless, I’m convinced that Peacock is a must-have streamer in the month of September.
As to why I think so, I can point to no better reason than the premiere of the new series “The Paper,” the new spinoff series of “The Office.” The series features the return of the same camera crew who documented the lives of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton office as they film their newest subject: a newspaper called the Toledo Truth-Teller. “The Paper” features a mostly new cast, but also sees the return of Oscar Nunez as Oscar Martinez from “The Office.”

I know I promised that football wouldn’t be the deciding factor to recommend a streamer for the month, but it is an important one. The NFL kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 4 on NBC and Peacock, and will see the Dallas Cowboys face the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. “Sunday Night Football” starts on Sept. 7, and will continue all month long, as well as Big Ten football games.
Peacock
Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” “The Office,” and original hits like “Poker Face” and “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports and NBC programming, including the NFL, MLB, WWE, the Olympics, the Premier League, NASCAR, the French Open, college football and basketball, and the PGA Tour. Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.
Hulu
Hulu makes it onto this list again, after bringing the heat in August as well. This streaming service will welcome a new season of “Only Murders in the Building,” the humorous and dramatic murder mystery show starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez on Sept. 9. This season, things get personal for the gang as they try to solve the murder of beloved doorman Lester.

Also premiering on Hulu during the month is “Chad Powers,” a comedy series starring Glen Powell as Russ Holliday, a quarterback who blew up his own career and disguises himself as a new sensation named Chad Powers to try and restore himself to his former glory. “Chad Powers” comes out on Sept. 30.
Other headlining releases on Hulu this month include the new season of “Futurama” on Sept. 13, and the debut of “The Lowdown” on Sept. 23.
Hulu
Hulu is a video streaming service that gives access to thousands of full seasons of exclusive series, hit movies, kids shows, and Hulu Originals like “Only Murders in the Building,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
Paramount+
Paramount+ mixes access to football with some epic premieres in the month of September. Let’s start with the latter; “Tulsa King” Season 3 premieres on Paramount+ on Sept. 21. The show will see Sylvester Stallone return as Dwight Manfredi, a former mafioso who decides to set up for himself in Tulsa.
Viewers will also want to stick around for “NCIS: Tony & Ziva,” the newest spinoff from the franchise. The show focuses on fan favorite characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, who are forced to flee across Europe after Tony’s security company is attacked. The couple and their daughter are forced to dodge danger at every turn; not exactly the happily ever after they imagined for themselves.

And of course, Paramount+ offers all in-market NFL games appearing on CBS each Sunday afternoon. That’s a great amount of access, especially for fans of AFC teams who live in the market of their favorite team. Paramount+ Premium offers even more college football, including all games appearing on CBS in local markets.
Honorable mentions
Netflix is releasing the second half of the new season of “Wednesday” on Sept. 3, and is also rolling out its new series “House of Guinness” on Sept. 25. The new ESPN streaming service is now available as well, and includes “Monday Night Football” games, a huge selection of college football, and a lot more for $30 per month.
Streamers to cut
Prime Video
To prove that football access isn’t the deciding factor for this list, I’m starting with Prime Video as a service you can skip for September, even though it hosts “Thursday Night Football.” There are a few premieres coming to Prime Video in September, including the next season of “Gen V” and the new series “The Girlfriend.” But I think if you’re looking for streaming savings in September, this is a good place to start.
Prime Video
Prime Video is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 10,000+ movies, TV shows, and Prime Originals like “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” “Jack Ryan,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “The Boys,” and more. Subscribers can also add third-party services like Max, Showtime, STARZ, and dozens more with Prime Video Channels. Prime Video also offers exclusive live access to NFL Thursday Night Football.
Disney+
Last on our list is Disney+, which it should be noted does have one of the biggest-earning movies of the year coming to its service in September. The live-action adaptation of “Lilo & Stitch” debuts on Sept. 3, but outside of that film, there aren’t a ton of headline-grabbing options in my opinion. If you don’t have Disney+ within a Disney Bundle plan, this is a good month to skip the streaming service and watch something else.
Disney+
Disney+ is a video streaming service with over 13,000 series and films from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, The Muppets, and more. It is available in 61 countries and 21 languages. It is notable for its popular original series like “The Mandalorian,” “Ms. Marvel,” “Loki,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” and “Andor.”
