Richmond ‘til we die: ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 confirmed

Well, Greyhounds, do you believe now?

After what many considered a lackluster final season and following many months of rumors, “Ted Lasso” is back for a second shot on goal. On Friday, the award-winning feel-good Apple TV+ comedy series officially confirmed it will produce a fourth season.

The streamer’s social media accounts announced the news with a pic of a seat in AFC Richmond’s stands marked with a “4,” but series star Jason Sudeikis also confirmed the news during an appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast. Sudeikis also confirmed long-standing rumors that Lasso would coach a women’s team in the new season. The Season 3/once-series finale also alluded to the plot shift, with Hannah Waddingham’s Rebecca and Juno Temple’s Keeley working to bring a women’s team under the AFC Richmond umbrella.

The fourth season of “Ted Lasso” will also star Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, and Nick Mohammed, who will reprise their roles as Roy Kent, Leslie Higgins, and Nate Shelley, respectively. It’s unclear at this point if any of the rest of the cast, including members of the men’s AFC Richmond team like Phil Dunster’s Jamie Tartt, will return.

As The Streamable previously reported, filming is likely to begin in May or June, which would put the new season’s release at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. The show will eventually stream its new episodes on Apple TV+, which currently costs $10 per month for a subscription.

What to stream this weekend: ‘Dope Thief’

While you wait for the new “Ted Lasso,” Apple TV+ has dropped another highly anticipated series this week: “Dope Thief.”

Executive produced by Ridley Scott and based on the book of the same name by Dennis Tafoya, the crime drama stars Brian Tyree Henry as Ray and Wagner Moura as Manny, a pair of best friends and cons in Philadelphia whose latest theft becomes a life-and-death struggle for survival. Posing as DEA agents, the duo rob a country house, but their relatively small-time grift instead leads them to the biggest hidden narcotics corridors on the East Coast… with some of the world’s most hardened criminals hot on their trail.

The ensemble also stars Marin Ireland, Amir Arison, Nesta Cooper, Kate Mulgrew, Ving Rhames, Dustin Nguyen, Kaci Walfall, Kiều Chinh, and more.

The first two episodes of “Dope Thief” are available to stream exclusively on Apple TV+ as of Friday, March 14. Subsequent episodes will appear on Friday mornings at 12:01 a.m. ET each week through April 25’s season finale. Scott directed the first episode, written (they all are) by creator Peter Craig (“The Town,” “Top Gun: Maverick”).
