What Live News Options Are Available on Peacock?

There are a ton of live and on-demand news programs available on the NBCUniversal streamer, depending on your needs.

News and television have gone hand in hand since the TV set first became a must-have appliance in American households. The average viewer’s relationship with the news may have changed since then, but even in 2023 local news is still the most-watched category of content on broadcast TV channels.

Streamers are rushing to meet the demand for live news from their viewers, and it’s fair to say that Peacock is ahead of the game. The NBCUniversal streamer has a great selection of news content, whether viewers are looking for live, breaking updates, analysis by figures they trust, or simply want to see what’s going on in their local communities.

Does Peacock Carry Content From MSNBC or CNBC?

It does indeed! Peacock users can watch the “Morning Joe” crew break down the top stories in news and politics daily on Peacock, as the show streams live from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily. Users who need a little more in the way of financial news can flip over to the livestream of “Squawk Box,” which airs from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. each morning. The service added streams of both these shows in March of 2023, but it does not house full streams of MSNBC and CNBC live, unfortunately.

Does Peacock Offer National and International News?

Peacock viewers can switch on the NBC News Now free ad-supported TV (FAST) channel, which is housed on the service to provide audiences with 24/7 updates on the world’s most important news stories. Live coverage from NBC News and MSNBC is also available when breaking developments are occurring. Peacock provides users with updates from Sky News to keep them apprised of all international news stories.

In addition, customers in the following markets can find localized NBC News channels within Peacock to help keep them apprised of everything going on in their area:

  • NBC Boston
  • NBC Chicago
  • NBC LA
  • NBC NY
  • NBC Philadelphia
  • NBC South Florida

Can You Stream Local News on Peacock?

If you’re subscribed to the Peacock Premium Plus tier ($11.99 per month, or $119.99 per year), you will be granted access to a live stream of your local NBC affiliate. All national programming airing on your NBC channel will be streamed there, and your favorite local anchors from your city’s NBC station will appear there each day, just as they do on traditional TV. Peacock Premium Plus is also the only way to stream the service with no ads.

What News Titles Are Available to Stream On-Demand on Peacock?

If you’re ever worried about the best place to catch the latest episode of “Dateline,” Peacock has you covered. The service also houses an exclusive spinoff series titled “Dateline: The Last Day,” which covers the final fateful day in a victim’s life in close detail. In addition, Peacock offers each day’s episode of “Morning Joe,” and the first two hours of “Today” on-demand the same day they air live on their linear channel of origin. Next-day episodes of select NBC News, MSNBC and Telemundo Noticias shows also call Peacock home.
