Where do Lionsgate movies go after they leave theaters?

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
Lionsgate movies stream on STARZ, then Peacock after leaving theaters.

Lionsgate is ready to go it alone. The studio is now on its own, having separated from the STARZ streaming service and its companion premium cable channel after a years-long process. The Lionsgate movie and TV studio will continue to churn out titles like “Ballerina,” new movies from the “Hunger Games” franchise, and more, but it will do so without being officially tied to STARZ.

When STARZ and Lionsgate existed under the same corporate umbrella, it was easy to say where the studio’s movies would stream once they left theaters. Now, the question is a bit more complex, but that’s where The Streamable’s experts come in! We’ll let you know where to stream Lionsgate movies when they leave theaters, making the whole process easier.

Where do Lionsgate movies stream first?

Lionsgate may not be tethered to STARZ in the same company any longer, but that doesn’t mean the two are finished doing business together. In January 2025, the two sides agreed to an extension of their Pay-1 deal, which will keep Lionsgate titles streaming on STARZ for multiple years to come. In addition, Lionsgate movies will begin arriving on STARZ much faster than they used to; previously, the theatrical window for Lionsgate movies could reach as long as 140 days or more before streaming, but that timeline will be abbreviated going forward.

Where do Lionsgate movies stream after STARZ?

Lionsgate agreed to a multiyear output deal with NBCUniversal and its parent company, Comcast, in 2022. This allows for Lionsgate films to stream on Peacock in their Pay-2 window, as well as appear on NBC-owned cable channels. If you’re looking for a newer movie from Lionsgate that isn’t available on STARZ, it’s a good bet that you’ll find it on Peacock instead.

Where else will Lionsgate movies stream

Starting in 2026, Prime Video will take over as the Pay-2 partner for Lionsgate movies. The streamer will get these films after their exclusive run on STARZ, and movies and TV shows from the studio’s library will also begin streaming on Prime Video starting in that year.
