Xfinity launches StreamStore aggregation platform
StreamStore will help viewers shop for new streaming subscriptions, and keep those subscriptions all in one place.
Xfinity is offering a new way for its TV and internet customers a new way to access their streaming subscriptions. The company has announced the launch of a new platform called StreamStore, which will allow customers to shop for new streaming options. The rollout of StreamStore is yet another example of the company’s attempts to ensure it can marry streaming with its TV and internet offerings to remain relevant for years to come.
Key Details:
- Aggregator extraordinaire: StreamStore will allow customers to keep streaming bills all in the same place.
- Exclusive bundle: Customers will find Xfinity’s exclusive StreamSaver bundle in the store, in addition to other options.
- Happy customers: A recent survey found 70% of consumers want access to an aggregation platform like StreamStore.
The StreamStore will allow Xfinity TV and internet customers to browse, subscribe to, and manage streaming subscriptions. Best yet, each account they sign up for will be added to a single monthly bill, allowing viewers to keep track of their streaming costs much more easily.
At launch, StreamStore will have more than 450 apps available, as well as a library of 200,000 movies and TV shows to rent or purchase. Viewers will be able to access the StreamSaver Bundle in the StreamStore; StreamSaver is a combination of Apple TV+, Netflix’s Standard with Ads plan, and Peacock Premium (with ads) for $15 per month. This bundle is exclusive to Xfinity broadband and TV customers.
“We believe that technology should work for you — not the other way around,” Comcast executive Jon Gieselman said. “Xfinity StreamStore is taking the complexity out of finding the content you love and putting the power back in the hands of our customers. It’s an important advancement in harnessing tech to make the complicated easy and entertainment smarter, simpler, and more connected.”
Xfinity also pledged to roll out even more StreamSaver bundles in the StreamStore later this year, as well as streaming apps viewers will be able to purchase a la carte. In addition, greater subscription management and activation capabilities across various devices will become available.
A recent survey from Hub Research showed that 70% of respondents thought of an aggregation platform like StreamStore as somewhat or very appealing. With a large number of internet and TV customers overall, Xfinity has a broad audience for its StreamStore, and could see good results from the platform quickly.
