Everything We Know About Xfinity StreamSaver: Price, Availability, More
StreamSaver is available to customers now, and I’ll break down everything you need to know about the new combo here.
Apple TV+, Netflix, and Peacock available together for a single price? Sounds too good to be true, but in mid-May Comcast CEO Brian Roberts revealed that a bundle featuring those three subscription streaming services would be available to Xfinity internet, TV it and mobile subscribers soon. This week, StreamSaver officially became available to Comcast customers, and I’ll break down all the information you’ll need on the new bundle as you consider whether or not to subscribe.
How Much is the StreamSaver Bundle?
There are two options for subscribing to StreamSaver. Customers can sign up to a bundle of just Apple TV+, Netflix (ad-supported), and Peacock (ad-supported) for $15 per month, or they can package the bundle with the NOW TV skinny channel bundle from Xfinity TV ($20 per month on its own) for a total price of $30 per month.
Normally, the three streaming services in the StreamSaver bundle would cost $22.97 per month on their own, which means viewers will save 35% by opting for the combo.
Who Can Subscribe to StreamSaver?
As of now, StreamSaver is not available to purchase for the general public. The bundle is only being offered to Xfinity TV, internet, or mobile plan subscribers, who can sign up for it here. As of now, there are no plans to make StreamSaver more widely available.
Can You Upgrade to Ad-Free Netflix, Peacock Plans with StreamSaver?
This answer is a bit more complex. As of now, only viewers who purchase the StreamSaver/NOW TV package will be able to watch ad-free Netflix and Peacock as part of the bundle.
Customers can upgrade their ad-supported Netflix plan to an ad-free one, either through their Xfinity device or through the Netflix website once they sign up for StreamSaver. The difference in price will be added to their monthly Xfinity bill.
Those upgrading to ad-free Netflix would pay an additional $8.50 or $16 depending on whether they chose the Standard plan (normally $15.49 per month) or Premium plan ($22.99). In these cases, customers will be paying $23.50 or $31 for a set of streamers that normally would cost $31.47 or $38.97 respectively if purchased individually.
Peacock is not offering customers the choice to upgrade to an ad-free subscription without also subscribing to NOW TV. But a Comcast spokesperson confirmed to The Streamable that the ability to upgrade to ad-free Peacock with just the StreamSaver bundle is coming soon. Apple TV+ has just one streaming tier, an ad-free plan.
Does StreamSaver Come With All Content From Each Member Streaming Service?
It sure does. There are no exclusions from any of the streamers involved in StreamSaver, so viewers won’t have to worry about missing live events or having to pay extra to stream them.
On Netflix, that means getting access to the service’s full on-demand library. Audiences will be able to download shows and movies for offline viewing, watch in full HD, and enjoy live events like this year’s Christmas Day NFL doubleheader, which will be a Netflix exclusive.
Peacock subscribers will also get to enjoy an exclusive NFL game with their StreamSaver account, as well as weekly streams of “Sunday Night Football,” Big Ten football and basketball, Notre Dame football, every event from the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, English Premier League soccer and a wealth of other sports, as well as Universal movies, Peacock originals and timeless classics from NBC. StreamSaver customers could also see themselves insulated from Peacock’s upcoming price increases.
Apple TV+ will continue to stream ad-free for StreamSaver subscribers and will offer MLB doubleheaders each Friday night in addition to its library of high-quality, prestige TV shows featuring A-list stars.
Does StreamSaver Require a Long-Term Contract?
No, viewers can sign up for StreamSaver and cancel at any time thanks to its simple month-to-month contract structure.
Does StreamSaver Offer a Free Trial?
No, at this time there is no way to enjoy a free trial of StreamSaver. Of the three services involved, only Apple TV+ offers a free trial of its own, but viewers will not be able to bundle with Netflix and Peacock if they opt for this trial.
If You Have Existing Netflix or Apple TV+ Subscriptions, Will You Have to Cancel Them?
According to Comcast, viewers who already have a Netflix account as part of a third-party bundle will need to cancel and resubscribe through StreamSaver in order to avoid having duplicate accounts. Existing paid Peacock or Apple TV+ subscriptions billed by a third party may continue, but StreamSaver will not refund customers with overlapping subscription periods.
Canceling your Netflix account will mean your viewing history and settings will unfortunately be wiped out. Those items will carry over if you link existing Peacock or Apple TV+ subscriptions to a StreamSaver bundle, however.
Can You Bundle Other Streamers with StreamSaver?
As of now, Comcast is only offering the three services listed in the StreamSaver bundle. Viewers are welcome to sign up for other streaming services at their leisure, but these won’t come with any discounts associated with the StreamSaver bundle, and they’ll appear as separate bill items if viewers sign up through their Xfinity devices.
