‘Yellowstone’ to Return to Paramount Network in November With Remainder of Season 5

‘Yellowstone’ to Return to Paramount Network in November With Remainder of Season 5

The long-awaited back part of “Yellowstone” Season 5 will premiere nearly two years after the season premiered.

At long last, the national nightmare is over, as Paramount Network has finally announced when the most popular show on television will return to the airwaves after nearly a year and a half. On Thursday, the cable network announced that “Yellowstone” will kick off the second half of its fifth season on Nov. 10, 2024. There has still been no clarity on whether or not Kevin Costner will be back as the Dutton family patriarch, but while promoting his new film “Horizon: An American Saga,” he has indicated that he is open to a return.

Key Details:

  • The second part of “Yellowstone” Season 5 will premiere in November.
  • There has been no word on whether or not Kevin Costner will return.
  • The Streamabel recommends a number of streamers to watch “Yellowstone,” depending on what you are looking for.

Things have been difficult for Paramount Global throughout the first half of 2024 as the company’s leadership has struggled over whether to sell off the bulk of the ownership. However, one of the enduring bright spots for Paramount has been its prosperous partnership with indefatigable creator Taylor Sheridan. While a regular in Hollywood as a writer, director, and actor, he established himself as an entertainment juggernaut in 2018 with the premiere of “Yellowstone,” which followed the Dutton family as they managed the largest ranch in the United States.

Not only did the show become the most popular show on television, but it also spawned an entire franchise of series, including prequels “1883” and “1923,” and a spinoff of the earlier prequel “Lawmen: Bass Reeves.” However, as the fifth season of “Yellowstone” began moving forward, things began to fall apart for the popular cable series.

After the first part of Season 5 aired on the Paramount Network from November 2022 through Jan. 1, 2023, when — and at times, if — the rest of the season would debut was left up in the air. Exacerbated by the dual writers’ and actors’ strikes of last summer, the relationship between Sheridan and Costner reportedly deteriorated to the point where it was announced that Season 5 would be the final one for the series and that the series' star was leaving the show. However, there are still rumors that Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey will lead a spinoff series.

Production on the second half of Season 5 began in May, and now that Paramount has confirmed that the final six episodes of the flagship “Yellowstone” series will air beginning this fall. The Nov. 10 means that the show will return almost two years after the first half of the season premiered in 2023. While we know that there will be six episodes in Season 5 Part II, Paramount Network has not confirmed whether they would run weekly, or if there would be multiple episodes released on individual days. However, if tradition holds and a new episode is released each Sunday night, that means that the series finale of “Yellowstone” would air on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024.

How Can You Stream ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5?

All six of the major live TV streaming services carry Paramount Network, so you have tons of options to choose from. Philo would be the cheapest option, as its base package costs just $28 per month. However, that cost is only possible because it does not come with any broadcast, sports, or cable news channels. If you are looking for a more complete streamer that allows you to watch all six of the new episodes of “Yellowstone,” The Streamable recommends Hulu + Live TV. The Disney-owned service not only carries Paramount Network on its base package, but it also includes subscriptions to the Hulu on-demand library, Disney+, and ESPN+ at no additional cost. So, in terms of value, it’s difficult for other live streamers to match up.

Of course, if you are looking to catch up on what happened in Seasons 1-4, as well as the first eight episodes of Season 5, then you might want to check out Peacock. Due to a deal that Paramount later called a mistake, the NBCUniversal streamer secured the rights to stream the series. While Peacock won’t get the new Season 5 episodes until months after they air on Paramount Network, it is a must-have for all Dutton Family aficionados as they prepare for the series’ conclusion.
