The historic 30th season of the MLS will come to an end on Saturday, Dec. 6 as Inter Miami CF will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2025 MLS Cup. The championship match will be the first MLS meeting between international soccer icons Lionel Messi and Thomas Müller. Coverage will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET with the match streaming at no additional cost for all Apple TV subscribers. If you want to watch the historic match, you can do so for free on Apple TV or on Fox and Fox Deportes with a five-day free trial to DIRECTV.

Everything you need to know about the 2025 MLS Cup

What time is the 2025 MLS Cup?

The match will officially kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET on Apple TV, Fox, and Fox Deportes. However, Apple TV will have pregame coverage beginning an hour ahead of time with pregame shows “MLS Countdown” and “MLS La Previa” broadcasting live from Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starting at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Why do we recommend watching the 2025 MLS Cup on Apple TV?

If you already have a subscription to a live TV streaming service that carries Fox or Fox Deportes, then you don’t need to do anything else to watch the 2025 MLS Cup, but if you are a cord-cutting, domestic soccer fan who needs to find the perfect outlet to stream the match, we would recommend doing so via Apple TV.

Unlike the majority of this season, you will not need a subscription to Apple’s MLS Season Pass to watch the game, nor will you need to be signed up for Apple TV’s subscription service. Instead, all you need to do is watch via the Apple TV app on your smart or connected TV. The platform will be broadcasting the game for free, so you don’t have to worry about signing up for a free trial, and then forgetting about it and getting charged for a full month.

Furthermore, starting in 2026, Apple will be broadcasting all MLS games on its Apple TV platform, without the need to sign up for the now-defunct MLS Season Pass streamer. So, by catching the option on Apple TV, you will be able to decide whether or not you want to pay the monthly fee to watch matches next season.

Apple TV

Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

…

In October 2025, Apple TV agreed to a deal with Formula 1 to exclusively broadcast all Formula 1 races starting with the 2026 season.

Apple TV also features coverage of all regular-season matches for Major League Soccer (MLS) at no additional cost.

On August 28th, 2026, the price of Apple TV was increased from $12.99 per month to $14.99 per month, the second increase in as many years.

The service is available worldwide through the Apple TV app, which is built into Apple devices and supported on most smart TVs, streaming players like Roku and Fire TV, game consoles, and web browsers. Subscribers can watch on demand, download episodes and movies for offline viewing, and stream in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, where available. Apple TV also offers family sharing, allowing up to six people to use one subscription at no extra cost.

With a competitive monthly price and bundles available through Apple One — which combines Apple TV with Apple Music, Apple Arcade, iCloud storage, and more — the service continues to grow as a key part of Apple’s ecosystem. Apple TV delivers one of the strongest collections of exclusive content in the streaming space for viewers seeking prestige originals, cinematic storytelling, and seamless access across devices.

Can you stream the 2025 MLS Cup for free?

If you are just looking for a streaming service to watch this specific game and nothing else, there are options available for you, I already mentioned the fact that Apple TV is broadcasting the game for free, but live TV streaming services are also an option if you want more channel variety.

DIRECTV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and YouTube TV all offer free trials, but they vary in length, so be wary. DIRECTV’s industry-leading trial runs for five days, while Hulu + Live TV’s is a solid three days.

Those are pretty straightforward, but when it comes to the sports-minded streamer Fubo, things can get a little complicated. As The Streamable’s expert David Satin discovered when signing up for the services, figuring out how long Fubo’s trial is — even as you are signing up — can be a bit difficult. Nonetheless, it will be at least one day, with the potential to be as many as seven, depending on a wide range of factors that Fubo does not share publicly.

The YouTube TV trial is said to be “up to two weeks,” but can be as short as two days. So it is difficult to ascertain what you are actually getting before you go through the signup process.

If you are looking to watch the game for free, I would recommend DIRECTV, because that streamer has the longest guaranteed free trial and gives you the best channel options.
