Why we recommend DIRECTV to watch Wimbledon
When it comes to offering the most channels in streaming, every live TV streaming service is chasing DIRECTV. The platform offers the most of The Streamable’s top 35 cable channels, so if you are looking for a breadth of programming options, DIRECTV is a surefire hit. And it helps that the platform carries all of the English-language channels that Wimbledon will be played on — ESPN, ESPN2, ABC — in multiple packages.
Last fall, DIRECTV launched its Genre Packs that allow people to pick curated channel lineups around central themes and genres, and for sports fans, that means the MySports Pack. The MySports plan runs $70 a month after the aforementioned five-day free trial, which gives you a way to check out everything that it has to offer before having to pay a penny. You’ll also get a bunch of great sports channels with MySports, including ACC Network, Big Ten Network, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, FS1, FS2, Golf Channel, MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NHL Network, SEC Network, TBS, TNT, and USA Network, and depending on your market, ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC.
In addition, the streamer has the industry’s best guaranteed free trial. While others can roll out longer options depending on what time of year it is and what qualifications you meet as a customer, DIRECTV offers a five-day trial to all new users. So, while you might qualify for a longer trial with YouTube TV (more on that option later), it still won’t cover the entire World Cup.
In addition to the ESPN Family of Networks, and all of the other channels available that afford you an incredible selection of games from across pro and college sports, the MySports package also comes with a free ESPN Unlimited subscription, which normally runs $30 per month. So, between the free trial, all of the sports channels, and the added features for just $70, that’s why DIRECTV is our favorite way to watch Wimbledon.
DIRECTV
DIRECTV is one of The Streamable’s top choices for the best live TV streaming service overall in 2026, especially for users who want the most channels or want to watch the most live sports. With an unbeatable lineup of local, news, sports, and entertainment channels, three main signature packages, an unlimited DVR, and 20 simultaneous streams at home, DIRECTV remains a premier choice for any cord-cutter.
Can you watch 2026 Wimbledon tournament for free?
Wimbledon stretches until July 12, so it will be hard to watch the entire tournament for free, as most free trials don’t run nearly that long. However, there are services besides DIRECTV that offer free trials, which you can use to watch Wimbledon on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 at no cost for at least a few days.
DIRECTV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and YouTube TV all offer free trials, but they vary in length, so be wary. DIRECTV’s industry-leading trial runs for five days, while Hulu + Live TV’s is a solid three days.
Those are pretty straightforward, but when it comes to the sports-minded streamer Fubo, things can get a little complicated. As The Streamable’s expert David Satin discovered when signing up for the services, figuring out how long Fubo’s trial is — even as you are signing up — can be a bit difficult. Nonetheless, it will be at least one day, with the potential to be as many as seven, depending on a wide range of factors that Fubo does not share publicly.
The YouTube TV trial is said to be “up to three weeks,” but can be as short as two days. So it is difficult to ascertain what you are actually getting before you go through the signup process.
If you are looking to watch one match for free, I would recommend DIRECTV, because the streamer has the longest guaranteed free trial and gives you the best channel options.

What you need to know about the 2026 The Championships, Wimbledon
The 2026 Wimbledon tennis tournament has plenty of storylines to follow, including one player not competing and one legend making her return to the court. 2025 runner-up Carlos Alcaraz is out after missing the French Open, and 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams makes her return to tennis on Tuesday.
Andy Roddick, Rece Davis, and Malika Andrews are some of the new additions to the broadcast and coverage team. Returning voices like Chris McKendry, Chris Eubanks, John McEnroe, Kris Budden, Chris Fowler, Patrick McEnroe, Caroline Wozniacki, Sam Querrey, and others will fill out the broadcast.
What are all the services you can use to watch 2026 Wimbledon tournament?
In addition to DIRECTV and all of the services that offer free trials, there are a couple of other services that will give you access to all of the Wimbledon content.
You can also watch the tournament on Sling TV, which has a wide range of subscription options that just might fit your streaming needs. Slign is the only live TV streaming service that doesn’t require a month-long subscription. With the platform, you can sign up for one-day, three-day, and one-week subscriptions to its Orange Package, starting at just $5. But there are plenty of other subscription options depending on what you are looking for. Month-long subscriptions begin at just $46 monthly.
The one glaring issue with Sling is that it doesn’t carry ABC in all markets. While it is in many of the biggest media markets in the country, you’ll want to make sure that you are in the right region before signing up for the service.
| ABC market | Channel call sign |
|---|---|
| Chicago | WLS |
| Fresno | KFSN |
| Houston | KTRK |
| Los Angeles | KABC |
| New York | WABC |
| Philadelphia | WPVI |
| Raleigh-Durham | WTVD |
| San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose | KGO |
Sling TV
Sling TV is The Streamable’s choice for cord-cutters on a budget. Sling is a live TV streaming service with multiple channel packages. The $45.99/month Sling Orange plan offers about 30 channels, including Disney Channel and ESPN. The $45.99/month Sling Blue plan offers about 40 channels, including ABC, Fox, and NBC in major markets.
You can combine Orange+Blue for a total of $60.99 / month. Sling also offers many channel add-on packages starting at $6/month.
The other major option is going to be the relatively new ESPN Unlimited platform. This standalone streamer from the Worldwide Leader in sports offers comprehensive coverage of the tournament, since it streams every ESPN channel around the clock, including all sports on ABC. ESPN Unlimited runs $30 per month.
Finally, Disney+ will carry coverage of the first day of Wimbledon for all subscribers, and Disney Bundle subscribers can watch the entire tournament there as well.
ESPN Unlimited
ESPN launched its highly anticipated direct-to-consumer streaming service on August 21, 2025. For the first time, this service gives sports fans access to its full lineup of linear channels without a traditional cable or satellite subscription.
