San Diego dominated the opener 8-0 behind seven scoreless innings from Michael King and home runs from Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, and Xander Bogaerts, putting Chicago’s season on the brink. The Cubs will now turn to Cade Horton, while the Padres counter with Nick Pivetta as they try to complete the sweep and advance to the NLDS.
