Mets games will be broadcast locally through the MLB app
New York fans will no longer be in the dark when it comes to streaming Mets games.
Streaming your hometown MLB team’s games has been notoriously challenging. Home markets suffer from league blackouts, RSNs (regional sports networks) come and go from streamers, and trying to watch games without cable is just an all-around chore. However, watching your favorite team’s out-of-market games has long been one of the easiest things to do in streaming, thanks to MLB.TV. Now, all New York Mets fans, whether they are in the tri-state area or not, will be able to take advantage of the simplicity found in the Major League’s flagship streaming platform, as all games will be available to stream without blackouts as the SNY app winds down and the MLB app will take over for the upcoming 2025 season.
Key Details
- New York Mets fans will be able to stream in-market games with MLB.TV.
- The SNY app will be discontinued at the end of March.
- Packages include options for $25 per month and $125 for the season.
This move is slightly different than what the league has done with other teams. In those cases, MLB has taken over the production of broadcasts, but SNY will launch its own direct-to-consumer (DTC) service inside the MLB app. The SNY streaming service will be available for a monthly fee of $25, $125 for the season option, and $150 for an entire year. Fans will also be able to bundle the SNY service with MLB.TV for $45 per month or $220 for the season.

The addition of the Mets games and SNY broadcasts to MLB.TV is part of a slow start to the league finally giving fans what they want — a way to stream in-market games without jumping through hoops. The team from Flushing joins a handful of other MLB clubs that stream their games on the league’s app, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, Colorado Rockies, Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays.
“MLB has worked extensively with numerous parties in the sports media space to help expand the reach of MLB games and eliminate local blackouts where we can,” MLB EVP Kenny Gersh said. “With the high quality production and elite broadcasting talent that SNY offers along with the excitement surrounding the 2025 Mets, we are looking forward to offering Mets fans in the tri-state area this new option to enjoy watching their favorite Club.”
This will not disrupt how Mets games are broadcast locally on either SNY or WPIX linear channels. However, for fans without a cable or live TV streaming option, the answer to how to watch Mets games is now much easier. Fans can use their TV Everywhere credentials if they subscribe to a pay TV distributor that carries SNY in order to stream games live through the MLB app at no extra charge. Nationally broadcast games, as well as those airing locally on WPIX, will not be included in this service.
“We are thrilled to partner with Major League Baseball in making SNY more broadly available to sports fans in the tri-state area,” SNY president Steve Raab said. “2025 marks SNY’s 20th season and this enhanced streaming product reflects our continued commitment to providing sports fans with the flexibility to watch SNY wherever and however they choose.”
The SNY service inside the MLB app will be available across New York State, Connecticut, New Jersey, and northeastern Pennsylvania. Fans of the Metropolitans outside of the greater New York footprint can stream out-of-market games on MLB.TV.
