T-Mobile Officially Adds Hulu to Its Selection of Free Services; Save $35 per Month on Apple TV+, Netflix, More

Hulu joins an impressive collection of free incentives to sign up for the mobile carrier.

T-Mobile started the new year off with a bang as at the beginning of January, the mobile carrier and internet provider announced that it would be bringing Hulu to its “on Us” collection of free benefits for customers. As of Wednesday, Jan. 24, the Disney-owned on-demand streamer is now available to T-Mobile customers with Go5G Next plans.

  • Hulu joins Netflix, Apple TV+, MLB.TV, Pandora, and more in the program.
  • The free incentives amount to a $35 per month savings.
  • T-Mobile’s Go5G plan ensures that customers are able to upgrade their phone to the newest model every year and still receive the best deal possible.

T-Mobile has long partnered with streaming services to offer a well-rounded bundle to subscribers. Hulu is joining a slate of free services including Apple TV+, MLB.TV, Netflix, ViX Premium, and more. The savings that the bundle provides amount to over $35 per month or $400 per year. Of course, the streaming services are not simply giving away their services for free. In addition to whatever financial arrangement that they have with T-Mobile, most of these services — including Hulu — are offering their ad-supported tiers at no cost, meaning that while they might be forgoing subscription fees, they are generating revenue via commercials.

The T-Mobile on Us inducements provide customers with the Hulu with Ads plan, which currently costs $95.88 for a full year. T-Mobile customers get the plan automatically for one year, but need to confirm that they want to continue the complimentary subscription thereafter. If they don’t do so, the subscription will automatically renew for $7.99 per month, or whatever the current rate is at the time.

“As the Un-carrier, we go beyond delivering the incredible service that customers expect from America’s 5G leader. T-Mobile customers get the best value and the best entertainment streaming bundle in wireless — just for being customers, without having to pay a penny more,” T-Mobile’s Mike Katz said at the time of the initial announcement. “In addition to Apple TV+, Netflix and MLB.TV, Go5G Next customers now also get a subscription to Hulu … all four on us. That’s over $400 a year in streaming benefits, from the very best services in the market, all included in your plan at no extra cost.”

Another significant benefit of T-Mobile’s Go5G Next plan is that it guarantees that subscribers will be able to upgrade their mobile device every year as new models are released and that they will be eligible for the same deals cell phone providers generally use to attract new customers. While cell phones generally do not fall under The Streamable’s area of expertise, between the Go5G guarantee and all of the streaming freebies offered, in our expert opinion, it's a pretty good deal.

In Addition to Hulu, What Other Services Do T-Mobile Customers Receive?

While the Hulu with Ads plan is the newest streaming service coming to T-Mobile’s on Us offerings, it is certainly not the first. Hulu joins a host of other streamers, including Apple TV+. Unlike Hulu, however, Apple’s subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service does not offer an ad-supported plan, so customers save $9.99 per month on the ad-free option.

Netflix has also been saving T-Mobile customers $9.99, but that will be changing. The world’s largest streamer had been giving customers its ad-free Basic plan, but after discontinuing the plan for new or returning customers last summer, the company will switch to the $6.99 monthly Basic with Ads plan later this week.

While three of the top streaming services is already a great list of freebies, they aren’t the only enticements that the mobile carrier offers. During the Major League Baseball season, T-Mobile Go5G Next customers also receive free access to the league’s out-of-market streaming service MLB.TV for free. Last season, the service cost $149.99 for the all-teams package. T-Mobile also offers a free year of the Spanish-language streaming service Vix Premium, plus a six-month subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, four months of Pandora Premium, and more.

  • Hulu

Hulu is a video streaming service that gives access to thousands of full seasons of exclusive series, hit movies, kids shows, and Hulu Originals like “Only Murders in the Building,” and “The Handmaid's Tale.”

It offers a good selection of current TV shows and its ad-supported tier is cheaper than both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. You will be able to watch most shows from networks like ABC and Fox, and cable channels like FXX, FXM, HGTV, and more.

The service has a Limited Commercials plan for $7.99 a month, or you can upgrade to their No Ads plan for $17.99 a month. For $76.99 a month, you can get Hulu Live TV from major cable channels, live locals and regional sports networks.

  • Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is a subscription video streaming service for $9.99 a month that includes high-quality original shows and movies including Best Picture winner “CODA,” popular sitcom “Ted Lasso,” and dramas like “The Morning Show” and “Severance.” Apple TV+ is also home to MLB baseball games on Friday nights and MLS Season Pass.

If you purchase an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV, you can get a free year of Apple TV+.

  • Netflix

Netflix is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 3,000+ movies, 2,000+ TV Shows, and Netflix Originals like Stranger Things, Squid Game, The Crown, Tiger King, and Bridgerton. They are constantly adding new shows and movies. Some of their Academy Award-winning exclusives include Roma, Marriage Story, Mank, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Netflix offers three plans — on 2 device in HD with their “Standard with Ads” ($6.99) plan, on 2 devices in HD with their “Standard” ($15.49) plan, and 4 devices in up to 4K on their “Premium” ($22.99) plan.

Netflix spends more money on content than any other streaming service meaning that you get more value for the monthly fee.

  • ViX+

ViX+ is now called ViX Premium. It is a Spanish-language streaming service with more than 40,000 hours of content, featuring originals and library content from Univision and Televisa’s pool of programming. It will also have as much as 7,000 hours of live sports, including Liga MX and UEFA Champion’s League soccer.

  • MLB.TV

MLB.TV is the official streaming service of Major League Baseball. You can see every out-of-market game live or on demand, and choose home or away TV and radio feeds. The app allows fans to watch up to four games simultaneously on the same screen through their Multi-view feature.

Users can choose to follow the entire league for “All Teams” ($149.99) plan, which is also available for “All Teams” ($29.99) a month, or you can stream one team’s out-of-market games for “Single Team” ($129.99).

One major caveat about the service: Your local games may be blacked out through MLB.TV, so you may still need to watch through your local provider.

If you’d like to go beyond the games, MLB.TV provides features, documentaries, and classic games.
