This Week’s Biggest Streaming News:
Lionsgate movies are coming to Prime Video in new deal

Prime Video and Lionsgate have struck a new deal that will allow the streaming service to license the studio’s movies once their theatrical window is over. Prime Video will also be allowed to pick titles from the Lionsgate catalog for its viewers. The agreement is expected to take effect beginning with the 2026 release slate, which currently has “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” a new installment in the “Now You See Me” franchise, and more scheduled.
The Prime Video-Lionsgate deal is the latest for the studio, which has produced some of recent years’ biggest franchises, including “The Hunger Games,” “John Wick,” “Saw,” and more.
It’s also the continuation of a planned split with STARZ, which currently carries Lionsgate’s library, but that’s not exactly a messy divorce: even though the two entities are in the process of becoming separate companies, Lionsgate and STARZ last week extended their multi-year output deal, allowing Lionsgate movies to continue to debut on the Starz cable network in their pay-1 window, plus give the STARZ streamer first dibs on Lionsgate movies after the theatrical window. The new deal also gives STARZ access to a third, exclusive window, but the details of that have not been revealed yet.
While there’s still over a year before the Prime Video and Lionsgate agreement stipulations go into effect, the Amazon streamer is getting the ball rolling with a new bundle that includes STARZ and Max, perfect for cinephiles and prestige TV lovers alike. The plan, which is only available to Prime Video subscribers, can be accessed now for just $21 per month.

What to stream this weekend: Men’s Six Nations Championship kicks off

Six nations, one championship. For rugby fans around the world, January ends with a start: the men’s 2025 Six Nations Championship kicks off today, Jan. 31, as over the next six weeks, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales compete for the prestigious title.
Defending champion Ireland is looking for a three-peat, but for many, France is this year’s favorite to win. While Ireland retained their championship last year, they missed out on the consecutive Grand Slam title, but it was still title #16 for the men. France was the last to win before Ireland’s two in a row, taking their 18th title in 2022.
The first match will begin at 3:15 p.m. ET on Friday as France and Wales face off, followed by Saturday matches against Scotland versus Italy and Ireland versus England.
If you’re in the United Kingdom, you’ll be able to watch every match via BBC and ITV, but here in the U.S., all matches will be available to watch via Peacock for just $8 per month. Stick around through at least April: the women’s Six Nations Championship will follow beginning Saturday, March 22 with fittingly Ireland versus France!
