Netflix unveils new monthly active viewer metric
It’s been more than a year since Netflix first announced it would stop reporting subscriber totals with quarterly earnings reports. But now, the streamer is launching a new tool to help better demonstrate the reach of its ad-supported Standard with Ads plan.
On Wednesday, Netflix unveiled a new metric called monthly active viewers. This number takes the amount of users who have watched at least one minute of ad-supported content on the streamer, then multiplies that number by the average number of people in a household in a given region (based on internal research). Using this methodology, Netflix claims it now has 190 million monthly active viewers in the 12 countries where its ad tier is available.

Election night ratings show narrow win for Fox News
On Tuesday, voters around the United States headed to the polls for the first time since the 2024 presidential election. The night was interpreted as a big win for Democrats across the country, but it was Fox News that won the evening from a coverage standpoint. As measured by Nielsen, Fox News ended the night with 2.92 million viewers.
MSNBC performed well on Election Night, too, attracting its largest primetime audience of 2025 with 2.88 million viewers. The news comes ahead of MSNBC's rebrand as MS NOW, which is itself a facet of the spinoff of most of Comcast’s cable channels into a new company called Versant.
CNN led among adults 25-54 during the evening, attracting 621,000 such viewers. In all, CNN attracted 1.91 million viewers, also good for its best night of the year.

‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 3 confirmed
Initial viewership data for Season 2 of the Netflix comedy series “Nobody Wants This” must have been pretty good. The show’s second season was released on Oct. 23, and Netflix has wasted little time in letting fans know whether or not the show would be returning for a new batch of episodes following the conclusion of Season 2.
On Tuesday, Netflix confirmed the show would officially return for a third season, which is set to arrive on the streamer sometime in 2026. The series follows an agnostic podcaster who falls in love with a rabbi, and their attempts to make the relationship work against a backdrop of what seems to be a hopeless mismatch.

Comcast hires investment banks to explore Warner Bros. Discovery bid
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav sensed a bidding war in the wind in early fall, and it appears his premonitions are coming to fruition. WBD is open to merger and acquisition offers currently, and has entertained varying levels of interest from Paramount Skydance, Netflix, and other companies.
Comcast has reportedly hired Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to evaluate the feasibility of an offer for WBD’s movie studio and streaming segments. These parts of the company are due to be split off from WBD’s cable channels by 2026, and it appears Comcast would have serious interest in acquiring the non-linear assets that are left as a result.
